    Dumb Luck

Not a technical issue but wanted to share what I can only describe as a fluke. About 20 minutes into mowing with my TO-30 I ran over a white tail 4 point antler that had fallen upright. It fit perfectly over my right rear wheel and the 2.5 inch "spikehorn" went right between the lugs and into...

    Manifold

Thanks to everyone for the input. The fellow that did the welding for me had some type of resurfacing machine that he put it through so it's not as bad as it once was, although the cracks were more widespread to the point where I wish I had gone with the replacement. Maybe if I get a few more...

    Manifold

Thanks, sort of what I figured. Not sure I can get a torque wrench on some of those nuts at the top, had a devil of a time getting them off with the small space and a box end wrench. I'll have to give it my best guestimate from the feel of the ones I can get to. I plan to use anti sieze and...

    Manifold

I had my manifold welded and am ready to reinstall with a new gasket. The mating surface was resurfaced but there are some areas on the ends where it has some pitting. Do you think I should just use the gasket and snug it up or should I coat the area with some type of gasket sealer?

    Manifold and Hydraulics

Thanks John: I should have found this forum before I went to the welder, it broke exactly as you describe despite my efforts of support. My hydraulics were rebuilt a few years ago so I'm going to assume they are in good shape, I'll definitely keep the load just inches off the ground, good...

    Manifold and Hydraulics

Thanks, I didn't realize that was what that was, it looked like a blank flange, your picture clearly shows the opening and groove.....have to see how the welding is going and if it's a bust I'll go with your recommendation.

    Manifold and Hydraulics

Thanks, I'm looking at about 500 lbs so it seems I can lift and move them. I like this forum already!

    Manifold and Hydraulics

Hi folks: New to the Forum, long time 1954 TO-30 owner. My manifold cracked near "down spout"...went to replace and the exhaust connections are three bolt not flared....I'm getting it welded instead but wondered if anyone has come across this and is the replacement with the three bolt good? If...
