    running rough after rebuild

it was running rough from the static timing upon first firing. I noticed it would not get high rev's. so i pulled the distributor and moved it 1 tooth toward the front of the engine. got the revs but under load still loading up and shutting down. am I still 1 more tooth off? any help would be great

    running rough after rebuild.

I noticed that when I rotate the distributor back it runs better but still misses. am I 1 tooth off? and if so when I pull the distributor should I rotate the shaft toward the rear 1 tooth or toward the front of the tractor 1 tooth? it just has no high revs and is running a little rough at idle(...

the new 8-n motor stars without a problem, but the engine seems to mis-fire. do I have a gasket leak somewhere? it just doesn't idle smooth, and when I give it gas it won't go to full rpm's. do I have somthing set wrong. the carb is straight from rebuild. I have the mix screw and power screw out...

hooked up timing light then nothing

sorry about that got caught up in the problem. I'm working on a 1950 ford 8-n. just rebuild and getting ready to fire new engine. was turning over fine untill I tried the timing light. so if I disconnect the battery( both posts) and reconnect it that should clear up the issue?

hooked up timing light then nothing

I hooked up my timing light. switched it to 6v and tested by cranking engine. no light so I put the "red" wire on the pos. terminal( a.k.a. ground) and the blk. wire on neg. and it worked. I though o.k. good, but when I tried turing over the engine after taking off the timing light, "nothing"...

    polarizing generator

I need to polarize my generator for my ford 8-n. this has angle mount distributor and is 6 volt. I know you have to put a jumper between two posts to polarize on voltage reg. Do I jump between the bat. terminal and field? or between bat. and arm. the manual says between bat. and gen. but I don't...

    bearings ( main)

thank's so I'm right in assuming that standard should fit. but not bind. unless the crank is out of round or needs to be polished. thanks for your post.

    bearings ( main)

would an "under size" bearing be thicker or thinner than standard? My thought is that when you turn down a crank the bearing would have to get thicker to make up the space. any thoughts. thanks trevor.
