running rough after rebuild

it was running rough from the static timing upon first firing. I noticed it would not get high rev's. so i pulled the distributor and moved it 1 tooth toward the front of the engine. got the revs but under load still loading up and shutting down. am I still 1 more tooth off? any help would be great

ya know Trevor.......is always helps us guessers iff'n you'd tell us what engine yer talkin'bout.

Since you can't pull the 4-nipple dizzy 1-tooth to retime it, gonnna guess yer talkin'bout the 5-nipple sidemount. There is NO NEED to pull the dizzy to re-time it, just twist the dizzy body, does the same thing.

But I don't think that is yer problem. Make certain yer 5-nipple dizzy firing order is 1,2,4,3 CCW. Its real eazy to gitt 2-sparkie wires swapped and run on just 2-cylinders. These N-Engines are SOOOoooo GOOoooood that they will start and run on just 2-cylinders but won't have enny power and will run ruff. (yer complaint)

Now iff'n yer talkin'bout the OHV NAA Jubilee, it will also have the same problem of miss-plugged sparkies. ........HTH, Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister
