Thanks Jim, I was hoping it would look something like that on the inside. Do you know if they updated or upgraded the sring back part of these brakes in any way? This little tractor only has 500 hours on it and they have been dragging since he bought it last summer.- tx3000

english ford 4000 serial number?????
It's a 6 lug, tall wheel, double step, hand brake English one for sure. I'm hoping its not some super hybrid of some kind. The sheet metal around the steering wheel has screw holes for a SOS shifter! There are no numbers at all anywhere on the right side. These two sets came off the left... -

Can anyone interpret the identifying numbers on this English 4000? I am used to 3 sets of numbers but this tractor only has 2 sets. They are EM06B and E70E07. Any idea what year she might be? Thanks in advance. -

4000 power steering getting HOT
My 4000 did this yesterday. I found this excessive heat while trying to figure out why the wheels turned to the right and locked in that position. I'm thinking there is a stuck valve in there somewhere. Everything related to the power steering was just like you describe, boiling hot. -

I sure am glad we got on the subject of the British 4000! Mine left me stuck in the field today. When I went to turn at the end of a row, the steering wheel spun to the right and locked up. I had to break the power steering lines loose at the cylinder and pull the wheels back straight with a... -

D4c series II steering clutch adjustment
Does anyone on here know how to adjust the steering clutches on a 1992 Caterpillar D4c series II dozer? I found what I believe to be the adjustment bolt under the seat but it just spins. I have an old 977k that the bolt clicks when you adjust it but I don"t know how this one works. I can"t find...- tx3000

3000 pto not engaging while engine is running???
Thank you guys for all the replies. I have had several thousand series tractors but have never had any pto or clutch issues until now. I will check the linkage as soon as i get home, hopefully thats it. Thanks again for your help. -

3000 pto not engaging while engine is running???
Ive got a ford 3000 diesel with the 8 speed. I just bought it and didnt know much about it yet but i cant get the pto lever to engage while the engine is running. I have to kill it, engage it and start it back up to make it work. It will disengage just fine while its running but it just grinds...
