Will the old hay spoil my new hay when I bale it? It hasn't rained since, and the daily temp has been at 100 degrees the past three weeks.

I don't really have the funds to purchase a new chain, but was wondering if I have one damaged Link on the chain can I just patch it up with one link? Or is there a cheap fix? I really just need it to last this hay season. Thank you guys in advance.
