I don't really have the funds to purchase a
new chain, but was wondering if I have one
damaged Link on the chain can I just patch
it up with one link? Or is there a cheap
fix? I really just need it to last this hay
season. Thank you guys in advance.

When a chain gets old and stretches out it doesn't match the sprockets any more. And so it wears the sprockets out too. Then you have lots more to fix.

But, yes, if you get s damaged link, you can put in a few new links in place of a few you punch out. Or put on a mender in place of a wider damaged link, if you get so lucky as to just damage the wider one without damaging any of the skinnier ones on each side.

I think he talking about a master link. You will need a couple of master links and a short piece of chain to repair the damaged section. He also is correct in that a worn chain will wear out your sprockets real fast.

Had an old 605h the main chain was so worn out and stretched I had to remove a couple of links to get proper tension on it so you should not have a problem for the short term.

Get yourself a few master and half links.

They might sell chainbreakers here but we always used to grind one side of the pins off and punch a link out. If the chains not too big you can use a chisel to split them and the pins can be bradded back. Your master link clip could have come off. When you put the clips back on the open end should trail the closed end.
