    That is not a pretty sight......SO.....I'll have to block the tractor up. Never done this before......mechanically inclined. How many hours of work and how many beers is this job going to be?

    That is my line of thinking.....what in tarnation would cause a retaining pin to come loose? Is it a symptom of something else?

    Pulled the starter motor.....the pin at the end of the shaft is missing. Is this something I will have to go fishing for or is it ok to leave the loose pieces in the lower housing?

    Poured another 3 gallons in....same result. It just wants to sputter and not really take off. Kind of like it being starved for fuel but it is not.....cant be because the carb on the tractor works just fine on another tractor.

    Yep. I think the fuel is ok.....I swapped the carb from my verry well running 1950 front mount 8n. I had spark on all cylinders...how do I easily test for "good" spark? I did do an electronic ignition mod to it....kind of wonder if that may be the issue. Not making any sense. Also...

    Fuel 1:32 for 16 OZ.......about 1.5-2 Gallons of gas in her. Compression: 1 110 2 110 3 105 4 105 This is 4 Compression strokes.....I can get another 5 pounds if I go to 6 strokes

    Ok. did not take it off the gauge but did disconnect it where it has it's connection 12" away. NO oil comes out. What is the next best spot to look at or have we advanced to dropping the oil pan?

    Finally after spending months in St Louis MO, I am back in Michigan. Got the almost 10 yr old project rolled out of the garage and fired it up....but....it does not like to keep running. Just in case it could be a carb issue, I swapped the carb from my 1950 front mount and it still runs...

    Helicoil VS Insert for head bolt threads

    8N 1950 Front mount

    Lots of oil getting by the front seal. Is it best to replace with a new rope seal or go with the one piece? Is there more work with either of them? Have the head off, doing 12 V Conversion at the moment. May as well fix the problem as I have the tractor semi disassembled.
