    Right to repair

The critical step has been made. Whether someone buys FSMs for their equipment, the OEM must now provide information in some format that is not a subscription, rental, or fee. Once that information is out there, it will be free in a matter of days. GM and AC/Delco never sold manuals on...

    Milwaukee cordless grease gun.

I have a few cordless grease guns (always have) and I don't recall what brand(s) they are, but none use batteries. Even those will lock on a fitting once pressure is built up and maintains.

    1937 Model D Issues

FWIW, the '38 D I had come with a Edison-Splitdorf mag, which was a steep learning curve for me. Once I wrapped my head around that and got it dialed in, it was almost frightening how hot it was, even at hand-cranking speeds. A quarter-inch jump of cranking spark was not even breaking a sweat...

Float Replacement 1938 JD 'D' Marvel Schebler DLTX-16

It IS possible to repair a leaking brass float. The difficulty can be in locating all the points of leakage.

1938 allis B with 12 Battery &.Mag. have to pull to start.

I would guess that the mag (Fairbanks?) might need some love, especially in the setup of the impulse coupling. Pull-starting generally creates a higher engine RPM than hand or starter cranking, effectively masking impulse/lag problems. I had a '38 which was crank-start only, and had no...

    Seldom used tools nowadays

...Along with the flexible 1/8 Allen wrench with a handle for adjusting Delco ignition dwell. Then there is the large thread chaser for pipes (up to 6") that no one threads any more.

Anyone used one of these, Bolthero?

You meant to write "removing the threaded portion of the head along with the plugs on Triton V8" - Right?

    Does this tool exist ?

You could also grab a General #8071 ratcheting driver and plug any ¼" hex drive bit into it:

    Old Ford wrench

I used to have a small collection of Ford tools. I handed them off to someone I knew who had an old Ford, realizing that they provided a tool kit for a very good reason. I don't know that Chevrolet ever provided tools with their vehicles, for a similar reason. Rumor was that the Dodge...

    Trailer coupler broke

Just keep the sliding coupler cleaned and lubricated. It you've ever had one rust shut, you will know why.

    John Deere M timing question

Smoke from the "fill stack" as in the oil fill tube? If so, that would likely be combustion blowby. That always happens to some extent under load, but is normally to an extent that is completely unnoticeable, or barely noticeable. More modern engines address crankcase pressure with PCV valves...

    Hydro-sonic cleaner

This is a little reminiscent of the old toilet paper oil filter cartridges. They seemed economical until toilet paper was rationed, and until particulate counters become commonplace.

    Grease

One thing I have not seen in quite a while is open gear and wire rope grease. It is high-tack, and has a narrow temperature range, but is excellent in its intended applications. Is that stuff still out in the marketplace?
