    JD 2555 Hydraulic reservoir draining

Problem resolved. The black rubber hose connects to the bottom right side of the hydraulic pump. There is a belly pan to remove to gain access. This time there is a hose clamp on the line to make sure it doesn’t pop off. Thank you everyone for the assistance. Greg

    JD 2555 Hydraulic reservoir draining

Thank you Jim, I will get a brighter light in there and see if this line came off a nipple. It’s a short hose that was oriented down and was draining out the center plate the two steering cylinders are attached to. The second hose off the tee fitting goes up into the body and runs down the right...

    JD 2555 Hydraulic reservoir draining

Hopefully a quick question to address. I found fluid under the front of our 2555 and traced it to the drain hose from the hydraulic reservoir Tee fitting. I’ve not had any issue the Hydraulic controls or loader and found it odd that foamy fluid would be overflowing. I’m thinking about...

    2555 sump screen particles

Thank you again Jim. I purchased the JD manual when I picked up the tractor. I will purchase the test and operation books you have recommended. That sounds like a fantastic next step to understand what is happening inside the case. You’ve been very helpful and have pointed me in the right...

    2555 sump screen particles

I believe this to be a collar shift 8 speed with reverser on the left side of the dash. The right shift handle is 1-4 the left handle has a low and high setting permitting a second 1-4 or 5-8 gearing. I am unsure if this qualifies as hydraulic or mechanical. I have to clutch to select any change...

    2555 sump screen particles

Thanks Jim. If the reverser clutch was degrading wouldn’t there be some performance issue with the reverser function? I did replace the brake as mentioned above. I wonder what’s causing the high range to not want to function? I’ve read a cracked line could cause some issue with the high range...

    2555 sump screen particles

I did replace the brake show under the rock shaft the was shot but that was two years ago. I thought I flushed out the remains pretty well. Maybe some residue still

    2555 sump screen particles

Good afternoon I’ve been having some issues with my tractor not running in the high range for a little bit and figured it may be the sump screen getting plugged so I did a fluid change today and found a surprise. The can filters looked good, fluid was mostly clear and amber. The screen filter...

John Deere 2555 reverser valve rebuild

Yes the can filter and the cylindrical filter have been serviced until I had no specks of brake material showing. My worry is some of the fine materials may have run through the valve

John Deere 2555 reverser valve rebuild

Thank you Jim, I ll check pressures first and go from there. I ll check the service manual and see if there is enough detail there for me to proceed without more advice Thank you, Greg

John Deere 2555 reverser valve rebuild

Good afternoon, I ve been thinking about an odd condition my tractor has been doing. I had a brake shoe self destruct and there was a bunch of litter that went through the trans. Several filter and fluid changes and it seems to be cleaned out. Before the brake issue I had problems with the...
