International TD-8C oil leak.
Problem solved. At some point in the last 40+ years some mechanical mastermind thought it would be a good idea to braze a custom "splash shield" inside the valve cover under the filler neck/vent. International TD-8C oil leak.
I picked up a TD-8C power-shift with ~2000 hours on it last year for a song as it would slowly stop pushing at around 5 mins run time. The main issue was a difficult find but easy fix. The trans pump had housing damage and it was sucking air frothing the trans fluid. New pump and no more issues...- xicor37

840 carb question
I'm guessing, to get the right rebuild kit I would need to know exactly what carb I have? Where do I find the numbers on it? While it's on the tractor all I can see is the MS marks in the casting. Is the part number on the other side? Also are the places posted earlier still the best places to... -

840 carb question
The old MS carb on my 840 (172 engine) has been rebuilt one too many times and it won't hold a tune anymore. I've been looking around trying to find a new one and every place I see only sells a Zenith carb for it. Are these really better as they claim? Secondly; can one of you fine gentlemen... -

Converting from standard ignition to Electronic
I can repair either. It just doesn't bother me to set points and for the $150 for EI I can keep a spare distributor. Although I will admit I did speak without thinking as both my 840 and my 8n are side distributor. If I had a front distributor I would seriously consider EI. ~Tyler- xicor37

Ok it gets stranger... I can not find a EAE or an EAF anywhere on the block. The only thing I can find is "CONN 6015J". The plate that is riveted on says "Ford industrial engine" but in the serial number box it has the exact same serial as the tractor. I called the old man I bought it from... -
