JD 630 Hood and Front Hood Painting questions

I've sprayed at least 3 tractors in IH "iron gard" and a half dozen more in Deere's offering, that I can think of off hand. I'd say that as far as the old style enamels go, they are among the best. All of these have an expensive primer/sealer under them, not a rust oleum or dealer primer. Credit...

S The JD paint you mentioned here would be the JD paint that you said doesn't exist.

JD 630 Hood and Front Hood Painting questions

What? John Deere doesn't sell paint? Nobody said they manufactured it.

    Majic Paint question

Sounds like you were either spraying upside down or the tube inside the can was disconnected/damaged. Probably a 1 off but majic is garbage for reasons beyond the spraying issue, for what it's worth.

Where should I paint a tractor?

I don't know how that is possible, unless we are talking about 2 different things. I'd like to see a urethane/polyurethane that *doesn't* show isocyanate in the sds. How many do you want? https://www.axalta.com/content/dam/NA/US/Public/Nason/Documents/English_SDS/483-15-SDS-EN.pdf...

Where should I paint a tractor?

There are several epoxies out there that show 2+ days for recoat windows. You had it correct with "instructions of YOUR primer." Heed the temperatures mentioned.

Where should I paint a tractor?

I don't see the benefit of closing up the tent overnight, if you were to go that route. Airflow is good even after spraying. Once the paint is flashed off you really don't need to worry about dust nibs and such anyway. Never had luck spraying outside if going for show quality. Hard to keep parts...

    Final Paint Advice

You need to paint out of the sunlight. If your surface temps are getting high then nothing is going to help enough. I didn't read every previous message meticulously but suspect this could be an issue if you're outside.

Where should I paint a tractor?

I wouldn't paint so broadly against alkyds or call this super typical across the board. Plenty of 20-25 year old paint jobs at our place with plenty of color and sheen left with plenty of sun exposure. Oddly enough, a show tractor can actually get away with it easier if they're sitting in a shed...

You want me to show you that urethane/activator is iso-heavy?
