Jd 7000 threaded gauge wheel arms

Hi guys. I got the new style threaded gauge wheel arm kits for my 7000 planter. Am I understanding this correctly that the gauge wheel arm swivels on the big gold threads and not on the worn shaft? The bolt locks the gold threaded bushing from turning and the gauge wheel arm moves up and down...

    4640 steering

Hi guys. I’m digging into the telescoping steering on my jd 4640 tractor. Somehow the bracket on the main tube cracked and broke off. I’m guessing it’s from people pulling themselves in the cab over the years. Since I’m in there I would like put a new upper and lower seal in and new needle...

    7000 fertilizer openers in soybeans

Hi guys, I have a quick question regarding using a John deere 7000 planter for soybeans. Would you take off the fertilizer openers when planting soybeans? It seems like a waste to wear them out and not use them. I use them for dry fertilizer in corn. I pre spread my fertilizer for soybeans...

    Jd 4640 4430 lights

Hi guys. I have a friend I’m going to help work on the lights on these two tractors. How do you access the front fender wiring. I’m guessing it’s ground issues. It looks like two bolts and the front plastic will come off with the lights. Is that correct? Thanks for your help.

    1650 diesel and round baler

Hi guys. I have a neighbor looking at a 1650 diesel. He was asking me if it would have any trouble pulling a case 8450 round baler. Are the hydraulics strong enough for opening the door and it uses hydraulics to tie. It makes 4x6 bales. I didn’t know the answer as I do small squares. I thought...

1948 oliver 77 standard steering gearbox

I have an old style 88 standard. There is an adjustment to the gear box under the radiator. I adjusted mine all the way. It helped but there is still some slop. I can’t remember what I did but I’m pretty sure it’s an eccentric type shaft or bushing. I think I found how to adjust it in the manual.

    7000 planter question

I’m trying to picture how that piece of steel would help with rocks. And how do rocks climb a smooth tire. Ha ha. I’m not doubting you, I just can’t picture it. I’m definitely leaving them on now.
