1953 Golden Jubilee

I have a 1953 Golden Jubilee that needs new rear tires and rims. I never noticed before, but the current rear rims are different styles and so are the center hubs that mount to the six hole bolt pattern in the rim. Does anybody know what style of rim the Golden Jubilee was originally assembled with? I have seen that I can use a 10" X 28" rim or a 11" X 28" rim. My tractor currently has 11" X 28" tires. One of the center hubs is a star shape and the other is solid. I would like to restore this tractor to its original condition.

The Jubilee originally came with solid wheel centers and "hat rims" meaning the center part of the rim itself was solid. Later tractors came with star or scalloped centers and a loop style rim. The looped style rim is superior to the hat style rim. As is the scalloped center compared to the solid center. That is, to all but serious collectors and originality gurus.
I believe your Jube came from the factory with 11X28" rims and tires. The modern equivelent of that is 12.4 tires on 11" rims.
I wouldn't care if I had hat rims or loop rims on my tractor. And I wouldn't care if the centers were scalloped or solid.
But I would care that both rims, centers and tires were the same.
Good luck

Ultra has it right but now days it is very hard to find hat rims and if I remember right they are no longer made so unless you go with used you will have to go with loop type rims

Thanks for the information guys. You have been a big help. That explains why I can't find the solid centers or hat rims anywhere on the internet.

Just out of curiosity (as I am new to all of this and learning, why would you say that the looped rims are superior to the hat style rim? And why is the scalloped center superior to the solid center?

The hat style rim was more prone to rust due to the way the center area is enclosed.
And the scalloped center, in conjunction with the looped rim allowed you change the width of your tires without having to remove both the center and rim from the tractor - at least for some of the settings.

I recently purchased a restored G.J. but as I remember from my youth the tires were bigger than what is on this one. I want to use this tractor in antique pulls but don't know what the maximum size was offered from the factory. Anywhere I can find out?

Hello are you still have rims?
I don't know it you noticed the date stamp nut this thread is from July of 2009.

jimNCal has not signed in since 2011, at least by that username.

If you hoover over or click on a person's avatar most will show you when they were last seen (signed in). If they are active, you can also send them a direct message about something like these rims.

No, I wasn't aware of that. I'm just looking for a pair of hat rims. Thank you

The site has classified and wanted ads; you will find them if you click on the arrow at the right of Marketplace in the banner above the forums.

You could start a thread of your own and ask for leads on finding a pair of hat rims. That would likely get your need more views than this old thread.

Good luck with your search.
