Looking for an obsolete part. I am trying to restore 2 quick hitches and need new latches, part # AR27288R (#16) in he parts book. Does anyone know who makes these or where to get them. Any help would be appreciated.

You might have some luck if you try your search again but drop the final 'R'. I bet salvage yards will want to sell the complete hitch. You may wind up rebuilding what you have.

Thanks for the reply. At my local John Deere dealer we looked at several options to no avail. I heard there is a guy on face book that rebuilds these, but I can not find him. Might have to try a machine shop to build one.

Since you can buy a new one for $150 or less, going the custom machining route would soon cost more. I suspect that is about their hourly labor rate.

Bob I'm saying you can buy a new quick hitch for $150, not that one part. BTW your picture does not include the part# for reference so I can see which part we're discussing. ie: 1,4,7, 12, etc.
So unless you're rebuilding them for a hobby, junking them and buying a new one is more senseable.

His picture shows item key number 16 which he referenced part number AR27288R in his first post with the picture.

Do you have one of the old ones a shop could use as a pattern to fabricate new ones for you?

Thanks, my bad, I skipped over the parentheses following part#. I still speed-read even though it's been 62 years since college. Having a new one made in a machine shop is still gonna be $$$.

Didn't read like he only wanted them cheap. Fabrication could be a reasonable option.
