Case 1070. Can you back up with the PTO running?

No problem backing up w/ PTO running for a short time. I did it yesterday trimming w/ the Bush Hog on our 870. When in Reverse, the Planetary spins almost 4 times engine speed in the opposite direction. It does this no matter whether the PTO is running or not. It's also spinning like that when the clutch pedal is fully depressed. So....don't sit in the seat w/ the clutch pedal fully depressed while talking or whatever. When backed up to a tool to hook up, take it out of reverse before leaving the seat. Also, I am "Shocked, Shocked" at the number of owners using straight Hydraulic oil in their transmissions!! I wouldn't oil a bicycle chain w/ straight Hydraulic oil. I don't care who's name is on the label. Be sure to use TRANSMISSION - HYDRAULIC OIL!! Be sure the oil has the "Transmission" prefix.

John said it, all pretty much , I will add, the sticker clearly says "Stationary PTO Work" snow blower or mower work is 100% Fine with PTO on,, I also agree on using a Quality trans/hyd oil I quit buying the cih hy-tran when cih changed to shell oil for a supplier,, and also due to the fact they changed the formula for the newer units,, used to be a great oil I bought thousands of gallons of it,, now it smells like sewer due to them using the cheapest grade of crude oil on the planet you use what you like we were a CASE dealer in the 60's nd 70's and I still run a fleet of them today
