48 farmall cub

My cub still is not running right I tried both ways advance and retard.
Even when it's running at half throtle it dies when I try to push the clutch in if I increase the speed it backfires through the exaust.I can only start at half throtel.I re timed the engine
And checked the rotor was on #1 checked all plug wires that they were all correct 1 3 2 4.I am at a lost for words

Okay if you don’t have the wires right fix that, but I suspect they are right you just transposed the numbers here. In your 1st thread on May 5 you said you fixed the governor and said it still didn’t have power under load. You said you replaced the carburetor, where is that carburetor, is that the original carburetor? Do you still have it? If you have it open it up and see if it looks good inside. If it does put a kit in it. Poke a wire through EACH passage, squirt with carb cleaner blast compressed air, then repeat it a second time!!!!
Grandpa love is lucky with them Chinese carbs, he is in with the man upstairs and is getting just the right ju-ju. That original carb should run on that tractor, it has done the job for the better part of 75 years. Make sure the screen on the inlet fitting where the fuel line attaches to the carb is clean.

Thunder !
Too bad you’re having all these issues.
Suggest load it up on a trailer and take to Grandma and grandpa loves ,have you going in a jiffy . Make a vacation out of it . Probably something very simple. Just a thought !

I thank you all for trying to get me running I am going to repllace the carberator and see if that solves the problem.I will let you know if I have sucess

G I followed your post as best I could .
Suggest ,this I don’t see any data that convinced me you need to change the carburetor. I think you should reconsider.
I suggest this , do not spend money on replacements until it’s verified to be the issue. Just trying save you some cash.
Go back to the initial failure was governor. Was the original carburetor changed because before the governor failed was there any issues with fuel system, with that carburetor . Was that carburetor giving you issues?
Originally
Governor issue original governor failed , a replacement was acquired and installed. Then all these issues started to occur. True of false ?
Id go back to the original issue , I then would verify the original issue was correct diagnosed.
I feel the replacement governor was not correctly repaired or assembled. There is still something wrong with it. Just and opinion I can’t verify. Just my opinion.
I think if the original governor was repaired correctly the tractor would as I understand it would run correctly.

When I started to have problems the governor was broken . I purchased another governor and I replaced the carberator. That was 2 years ago.Imade sure the governor was timed to the magneto. Do you think the governor may still be the issue?
Everything looks fine with the governor What would I look for on the governor that would be suspect

I don't know what else to try.If I can not change the adjustment to lean or rich I have to try something .It can be returned if it is not the problem.so far no one has given me an answer what could be my problem.ai am thankfully for any advice to correct the issue I am having with my cub.

Call me..... maybe we can chit chat and figure it out. It's a bit difficult to diagnose and fix stuff on here sometimes 😮. 256-404-0123. Kevin

Kevin I just got your reply I appreciate your trying to help I see on YouTube where a owner of a 49 cub had slop in the linkage that goes to the carberator.I seen where my connection also has slop not at keyway end but where the bracket attaches to rod. There is 3/16 play.
I will call you after lunch to see what you think about the slop

I pulled the rod going to the governor and I now see the rod has play.It looks like the woodruff key is the problem or the rod is worn.Where do i get a key to fit the shaft.Everything I see is metric
