Yet another paint code question 8N….Sorry!

Guys I’ve read and researched and there are many opinions about which color is correct. I had decided on PPG 32675 single stage acrylic urethane. However, discussing this with a few different people I’m told it’s to beige/almond. So I’m sanding my hats and when I get through the top layer of paint the color appears to have a beige tint? What do you think?

Do you have a I&T FO4 manual the light green tint on the cover is the correct color. I don't have the code in the house. I found it M2J957

A post with your code "YUK" its to gray.

Its hard to find a photo that highlights the correct color. This is one I painted the gray shows up to light in the photo.

Look at the headlight in the first pix that's what you are looking for. John Smith was the man I would not doubt what he had to say.

Center rim a match

I don't like Fords Red it may turn into a pumpkin. Ford did not use a red I like so I use IH 2150 Red rouge

How did I find this I googled

Decided on PPG Omni 31657 single stage acrylic urethane. When he opened the can looks like a perfect match.

8Ns were the same as Jubilees and were the same as hundreds. It didn't change until late '57 for the XX1 models, which is where the "beige almond, gray green, light green, etc. came in. Here is the underside of the unmolested hood center from my 960, sitting on my 961, that is 9 6 1. You will probably be happy with the more modern color. The acrylic urethane will hold up well for you.

I took the hood to the auto parts store to have the paint digitally analyzed and the software recognized it as Ford Grey.
The color is perfect and after three spray gun coats the paint has depth, looks rich and shiny -- and importantly is nice and hard. I used hardener too of course. The rim insides are red oxide primer with marine enamel blue over.

VALSPAR
852 SS Polyurethane (A)
852-145056 NF
TERRAIN

2013 FORD USA (VA-7290)

My Hat box rims were widened for wider tires.

Yep for some reason that color does not show up well in a pix. That rim is the correct color, I love that color looking good. Fords Vermillion red I don't like its my tractor I paint the red IHC 2150 Rouge red it stays red and don't turn into a pumpkin.

Hobo,
That's funny and exactly what I do with mine for the same reasons.
I used IHC for my red running boards.
Can't remember what Valspar red I used for my seat assembly . . . . anything but Vermillion. ;)

"Ford gray" is a fairly new designation. I don't know who started using it before it spread to other paint manufacturers, Probably CNH. The first Fords, the 9N, were the same "battleship gray" as the Fordsons. The 8Ns were painted a much lighter gray which was called surprisingly "light gray". this same shade was kept through the NAAs and the hundreds, all the way up to Sept. 1957 when they started painting the XX1s. Since they already had a light gray which was a lot lighter than the original gray they called this one "medium gray" it has the off tint which people call all kinds of different tints such as olive, almond, tan, beige, even green. This went on until 1964 when the gray became nearly white to go with the blue. The can says gris. This lasted until somewhere around fifteen years ago, when Fiat decided that no one would notice if they dropped the "light gray" and try to get everyone to be happy with what they decided to call Ford gray. For the most part it has worked. Most owners of 8Ns through 100s don't really care about the shade of gray that they use.

Actually my rim in the photo is exactly the same shade as my centers but one pic was taken in the shop and the rim shot was out in the sunlight.
