There have never been many here in NH despite our proximity to Canada. There used to be a fellow from northern Maine who would bring two to a tractor pull in northern NH, and then a fellow from Canada who would bring three to the same pull. He would roll in with a 45 ft. flat bed trailer behind his tri-axle logging truck. He would climb up onto his log loader, pick up and set on the ground a weight rack which probably had a ton of suitcase weights on it. IIRC they both had Black Hawks which I hav always thought were one of the best looking tractors ever built. I was surprised to come across one of those for sale in Parkersburg WV maybe twenty years ago.

Not sure about the older models but the 50/55 series Oliver’s/Cockshutt’s were the same tractor’s painted different colors

My granddad purchased a 550 Oliver new in the 60’s, my cousin has it today, never been repainted since granddad bought it
Cousin started stripping it down to restore and found red and cream paint, checked the serial tag and found it was a Cockshutt. Apparently it was repainted and labeled as a Oliver before it was sold new

We don't see too many of either around here either. In 1980 I worked at the JD dealer and he found a Blackhawk 40.Indoor stored, but needed paint badly. He wanted it painted, but until he found new decals he didn't want to disturb the originals, poor as they were.We found a new set in Canada,so I stripped and painted the tractor and applied the new decals. Not one dent anywhere, that cream and red made it a pretty tractor. It was put to work running a sawmill up the road,it did a good job,and he used it until he had enough to buy a new JD power plant. The mill had a big flywheel that carried the load pretty well, but the operator said he loved to hear that Buda?? Herc?? come up against the governor.

Will someone explain the relationship between Oliver and Cockshutt.

Right out of high school, I went to work on a farm. (1961) The owner had a Black Hawk Diesel. He called it his big deetsul. I think it had a four cylinder that had the starter pedal on the left side that you pushed with you foot. The throttle was a solid shaft that was right in front of your knees. It rotated up and down. I think Indiana Farm Bureau Co-op was selling Cockshutt at that time. He also had a Co-op self propelled combine of some sort.
I ran the tractor out of fuel cultivating the first summer. I ran it until it stopped. I didn't know any better. We had to crank a long time to get it running again.

IIRC, it had the same gearshift pattern as the Oliver, but had a couple of gears changed. I learned that about 20 years later - or maybe I am remembering wrong.

Deep story. Long end of it, Oliver was bought first by White motors, then Cockshutt and Moline.
Look up Chris Losey that Oliver Guy on YouTube.
Or Wisconsin Oliver nut.
Or Oliverkid.... Ethan layout the story for him, Oliver66Farmboy. He shares the deep end of the history...

I was looking for a power unit for my chipper a few weeks ago,and saw a White unit advertised for sale.I had the same thing on my old chipper, years ago,and still had the blown one sitting out back for parts.I've sold stuff to this guy for over 30 years, and went up and bought it.We loaded it in my truck and lashed it down.We were talking and somehow I mentioned it was a Hercules with a White badge on the radiator. He did not realize that, and looked at the tag on some Oliver he had.It was the correct engine, and he had been nosing around for one for a couple of years. He had that engine sitting on his shingle mill until he sold it to me.He never even hinted about trying to back out,and if I hadn't needed an engine for that chipper right then I think I would have offered to just cancel the whole deal.He did say that if he had known that engine would still sit next to that tractor for another 10 years.
