Hydraulic hose quick connect ends?

On my MF 245 tractor.the female connectors has the ball type.on .y hydraulic toplink one.it has like a nipple end one.and it don't lock together.what are the style ends called.and do the hose threads all fit connectors.

Is this top link a new attachment you have not hooked up before, or you have used it before and it just won't go together this time.

The ball type and nipple type will go together if they are the same series such as ISO. does either one have pressure behind the ball/nipple? Pressure can keep you from putting them together. Tractor turned off and the valve lever moved both directions to relieve line pressure?

You need to know what type and size the hose ends are to get the correct couplers to fit the hoses. They are not all the same. My MF 245 has ORB quick couplers to match the hose ends on the factory aux hydraulic system hoses.

The top link is new and never have used it.on the tractor it looks like the hydraulic part was added.
 
I have had problems with an off brand male end not working with the correct female ends even tho they were supposed to.

With my top links here in Minnesota it is very very very common for the temperature to change 30-70 degrees from the time I took one off to when I want to put it on. With the temp change the oil and hoses change volume and will lock up. This happens with many implements, but it is very common on the top links with their short hose and often a check valve. There is no place for slight pressure changes to go. I am real happy with the special male ends with a tiny little tappet on the end. Unlike those pictured or I assume what you have, this little end moves and it it’s own tiny valve that releases the pressure built up inside the hose. I hear they can be a bit finicky, but over all they have worked well for me. If you find the built up pressure is a problem, you might want to look into this type of male coupling.

That could be one that is popular in construction. I had a mower that came with one of those. I had to swap it out.
 
My female one on tractor is the ball type.
They should go together if there is no pressure on either side and the basic tip bodies are the same.

Since we can't see what is going on and we don't know the history, you have with the couplers please answer the following questions.

Have you plugged anything else into the tractor remotes and know other ends will connect? If so compare the end you had plugged in and the new end in your picture (diameter, spacing of locking grooves, etc., not just ball vs pointed tip)

Can you take a bolt and push in on the ball of the tractor coupler, and does it move in and oil come out?

Can you push the point of the coupler in your picture in and have oil come out?

If your 245 has the factory coupler release mounting brackets are you taking hold of the hose behind the mount and moving it to the rear to release the locking balls to allow the male coupler to go fully into place. Release the hose and let the coupler drop back once the male tip is fully in to lock it.

If it's a top link, I don't know why you would want to take it off.
Hook it up direct, no connectors.
Both of my tractors are like that.

I am assuming the top link has never been used, new. No oil in opit, never coupled to anything.

New stuff like that might be stuck in place. Like rusted together, but not real rust just new metal sitting together a long time.

Can you hold the body of the coupler firmly, against metal lip or lightly in a vice or vice grip. Then tap the bit sticking out with a hammer, or piece of hardwood? All of this gently, but firm. Not to bend metal, but to tap stuck parts apart? That tip is spring loaded but should move inwards with a firm tap.

If brand new there isn’t any oil in it; if it has been used then oil will squirt out.

This would tell if the new male couplers are funtioning or pressure locked.

Nearly all older hydraulic ends are 1/2 inch pipe thread fittings on the farm stuff.

Newer ones are getting into O ring style.

O ring style are nice and dry for the first 5-10 years so younger people like them. Pipe thread style tend to weep a very little enough to collect dust but will last forever so older folk tend to like the reliability and simplicity of pipe thread.
