This is a picture of the tag on right side of my jd 1010. Doesn't say 1010. Anyone know what it means?

That is the tag of a power plant engine, your engine has been swapped. It is likely the tractor serial number tag went away with the original engine.

The 1010 used a 115 cube gas or a 145 cube diesel.
The 2010 used a 145 cube gas or a 165 cube diesel.

As stated this was from a power plant or a combine.
Blocks are the same with the exception of the bore diameter for the sleeve and deck to slide into.

I’d recommend reading the distributor tag for tuneup kit parts and crossing the numbers on the plugs.
x2 on reading the distributor tag as it could be one of at least two and they use different parts. If the tag is missing good pictures of the cap, as well as points and condenser in place in the distributor can help ID it for him.

hello,, take the old points to the store to get the correct ones,, 1010 & 2010,, had 4 different distributors,, 2 different Delco's,, Wico,, & Prestolite
