Farmall 560 gas question

Are you releasing the clutch pedal to fast???. Had a customer with a 656 (same engine C263) had the same problem. Complete tune up, rebuild carburetor and when I went to his place to check it out, had him show me what it was doing. When he put it in fourth gear he just released the clutch really fast and the engine sputtered and died. Explained to him that you can’t do that, you have to release it slow. I got on and showed him that there is nothing wrong when realeasing the clutch slowly. He had just bought the tractor and had never drove a tractor before this.

Ah yep like most new comers on here . They leave the city , buy a few acres and go looking for what grand dad had when they were PUP's aand have no idea what they are doing they just have and idea and a check book . Then they find something that they never really check out or know how to and pay the price only to find out that it does NOT work like grand paw's did FIFTY years back . Then ya get the Horsey people once dealing with them you will understand WHY I DRINK. I had this one Girl / woman who was horse crazy big time , she bought a plum slap wore out 8 N Ford that five min's after starting had NO oil pressure , the GUY who sold her that tractor told her that he installed the new oil pressure gauge back wards and not to worry about it . She was horse rich and bum poor . Brand new F 350 4x4 dually diesel brand new six horse trailer with changing and tac room and plum slap broke and wanted mericials . I found .005 under bearings and still had .004 clearance . new oil pump and 30 weight oil when warm i had 15 lbs on the gauge . God she was dumber then a box of cardboard rocks . I truly felt sorry for her , she was not married and i could see why as the only thing between her ears were Horses . She was a friend of one of my NORMAL customers who was one of those who moved from town on to fifty acres and he had a 504 Utility that he bought that about drove me up a wall getting it to run and the MANY trips up to his place to pick up the tractor . The hours i spent running that tractor in the field brush hogging , putting a three bottom plow on it a plow i had to go buy just to see what it was doing and took five acres to get it right and another case of gas used on a gas tractor under load . . Pete was a nice guy but DUMB to tractors Once i got him up and running and EDUCATED and his tractor running almost like new he started bragging on how great i was to the part time farmers he worked with and the phone about rang off the hook . Thru him my next night mare arrived a Allis 190 XT series 3 HYD ISSUES , SON NEVER TAKE ONE OF THEM IN WITH HYD. ISSUES . The cost of the PIECES to REBUILD that pump cost more then the tractor is worth scrap and NOW salvage yard has a GOOD pump. , IF a 190 is in a salvage yard it is there becasue of the . PUMP .

Ya, that’s how I ended up looking at this 656. One of my good customers friend just went thru divorce and ended up out in the country with a 20 acre farm. Got the 656 and an old disk and pto broad caster to plant a couple food plots for deer hunting. Had know idea how to use the tractor. I did clutch,TA, and brake adjustment for him and to not throw away the brake shims i removed. He had no idea what I was doing. Now I get calls from his friends. In fact one of them want me to install a new clutch in his 2010 JD. Trying to brush him off

Earlier this summer my son purchased a Farmall 560 that had sat in a shed for approximately 20 years. We had the carburetor rebuilt, a new water pump, and battery installed. Today I hauled 4 loads of manure with it. When shifting I would have to pull the chock out because the engine would sputter. Pulling the chock out for a few seconds seemed to relieve the sputtering. Then push the chock in and the engine would run fine.

Should I adjust the carburetor? A little more gas to the "load" needle? Or do I have some other problem.

On anything that sat that long I haven't found one yet that couldn't stand to have the tank cleaned out. Nice find! gm
