I'm getting ready to replace the transmission on my 1950 C Farmall as the housing has a crack in the housing on the side that my uncle tried to braze and it didn't work and it leaks gear oil. I have another complete transmission that I was going to swap out. My question is - Has anyone ever broke one in two at the back end of the torque tube and successfully put it back? I'm concerned about getting the shaft stabbed back through the throwout bearing and clutch plate when I go back together. I could leave the shaft in if I needed to but I'm still going to have to slide it out far enough that I can get those 4 bolts out where that shaft bolts to the transmission. Any thoughts as this is all new to me?
