Yes, it's possible. I've seen pictures of a few. I have no experience with them, so I don't know how well they work.

Sure it's possible as Sean says. When I bought my Ford 840 years ago someone had replaced the stock filter with a dry canister filter but I put it back to stock. I think I still have it but it might be rusted out by now because I left it outside. The simplest might be add a K&N cone filter, that would give your tractor the high performance look.

i flirted with this, but went back to stock with oil cup. believe you me, i gave it good kanoodling but in the end i figured there prolly is some gomer air/fuel ratio that only works with the stock setup so after all that goober goobin i cleaned out the stock parts and put em back on.

Probably not like this. But at least they put the fuel filter right above it, in case a signal fire is needed for a rescue.

If you're going to replace the oil bath air filter with a paper filter, why not add an in-line fuel filter that was never part of the original design either.

IMO the oil bath air filters work more efficiently than any paper filter. K&N air filters have been tested many times, came up short in every test.

ya thats the conclusion I came to as well, after throwing a bunch of coins at 'creative' solutions for tucking the paper k&n cone element under the dash etc with elbows, etc, I figured for what my ugly rig will do, its just better using the regular layout for this specific era of tractor.

I am convinced myself that disposable paper filters replaced oil bath filters because of the instructions for maintaining the oil bath units that were in the owners manual. "Under dusty conditions clean daily" Yeah, like that was going to happen. So the manufacturers all gave in, and gave up on them and went with paper, so that their products would have a chance at lasting a few years.

I tell ya, that thermos canister for the oil cup, you stick and jam your hand and some fingers in there real good in that open tube in it, itll ingest yer hand and some fingers down real good and real quick hahah...

That's much better than dusting an engine IMO. Most of the tractor brands that switched to dry elements use a 2 in 1 approach, an outer filter and an inner filter.
I remember cleaning the old oil bath cleaners and replacing the oil. There would be a layer of heavy grime in the bottom of the cup.
