Case 530 draft o matric hydraulics

Hey all new to this group and my case. I have a problem with the 3 point hydraulics. 1 day it was working fine then the next day wouldn't do anything. I checked the hydraulic fluid at least I hope I checked the right hole. The dip stick on the left below the battery. It wasn't showing up on the dip stick so I added it till it was on the line of the dip stick. I fired it up and went to start raising and lowering the 3 point after a few times it started jumping like it had air in the system then it started pushing fluid from behind the 3 point arms and the shifter seal. Any help would be appreciated thank ya

Sounds to me like the seals on the DOM piston have failed and allowed all your hydraulic oil to go into the rear overfilling it. I thought all those late systems had a drain tray and hose to return leakage to the front section, take the large plug out right between the shifter cover and the rear top cover, there is a dipstick on it with a mark about 1" or maybe a little more up from the bottom. If that rear compartment is so full that oil comes out the shaft and shifter boot you are gonna have to dig into it. That is the most common problem but, there are also seals on the 4 speed input shaft and the PTO shaft in the rear housing. you can kinda isolate it by putting a load on the DOM hitch , raising it and seeing if it leaks down with the engine shut off, keep us posted

The oil coming out the rear is a sign that your differential/transmission is over filled. The dipstick/fill is in front of the seat, left side. Should be a big plug. The overfill is usually caused by the transference of hydraulic oil past a seal.. Not too hard of a fix, but for present, so you can use the tractor, drain oil out from the rear bottom right drain plug. Use a shorter, at least three gallon bucket, that fits under the rear. You need to get your hand readily to the plug to put it back in with oil still coming out. If your in a warmer climate, you can reuse the drained oil in the hydraulic without any problems. Did it for twenty years with a tractor until I learned hoe to fix it on this forum. Welcome to the forum.

mEl the late 530 sn 8297801 and later had the rockshaft drain pan.

For jhilton69 the drain line may be missing, disconnected, broken, or just overwhelmed by the piston seal leak. When you lift the rockshaft cover just high enough to look under there with a flashlight, judge how high you need to lift to reach under there and disconnect it.

If you are getting torque tube oil out of the transmission breather or shifter boot, the piston seals are definitely leaking. That doesn't mean the pto shaft seal is not contributing to the oil migration but the torque tube normal full level is lower than the top of the transmission by a few inches.

When you get the rockshaft cover off you will be able to check the pto shaft seal for leakage. The shaft seal resides in the front of the differential housing like this pic of an earlier tractor. Have your torque tube oil level on the high mark. Clean the area around the pto shaft seal and dry with carb cleaner spray or similar. You'll be waiting for piston seals parts to arrive so keep the pto shaft dry of oil and check it over a few days,

these Re the only markings on the tractor. This is the second time putting this message up hopefully it stays. Today i went to start the tractor up after transferring the fluid from the plug under the seat front left it was all the way to the top with fluid to the hole on the left under the battery. It went up then i went to cycle it snd it wouldn't come back up. Last night it worked up and down but it did jump when all the way up and down.

Was your hydraulic/torque tube reservoir at the full mark? The oil you drained came from this reservoir, migrating to the transmission/differential reservoir, to overfill it. So it naturally would be very low, causing the arms to hesitate or not work when you tried them.

Where's the hydraulic/torque tube reservoir located im still learning this machine? Someone mentioned a fill cap up under the fuel tank but I don't see one there. Is there a dip stick for the hydraulics?

When I went and picked it up it was working good. But it didn't have any equipment on the 3 point. Once I put the bush hog on it, it stopped working. Is there a certain piston seal I should be looking for?

The plug in the center of the picture has a dipnstick on it. It takes a correct funnel, as it is an awkward place, and patience as it's easy to over fill the funnel quickly. The vent for the hydraulic/torque tube reservoir is in the left of the picture.

This parts list and hitch view is for a 540 model utility tractor within the 530 series. If you're not sure it is a utility tractor (not a general purpose aka row crop or Ag tractor) post a full front pic showing the axle and steering linkage. I always pull and eyeball the piston seals before ordering parts as the tractor is many years old and the factory piston may have been swapped out with a different style. Be a good idea to post pics of both side and rear of the tractor for future repair reference.

I just edited out the piston on the parts list, you're not likely to need that.
