Any tricks on making a temporary gas tank

I am doing engine work on my 49 8N. I don't want to put all the sheet metal and tank back on to test the engine.

Looking for ideas that have worked as a temporary gas tank. Thinking of maybe a soup can that I can put on the seat and running a line to the carb.

I am sure others have done this. Looking for the easiest and quickest reliable way to get er done.

I used a gas tank from an old lawn mower I had.

I have a plastic tank from old riding mower only holds 2 gallons,lets me take test rides and move out of the shop to clean up.

Perfect idea. Got an old mower outside that I've been wanting to take to the dump for a year. Just never put 2 and 2 together.

Take and old lawn mower to the dump why the heck do you want to do that you can get a couple bucks out of it for scrap or find some one like me who picks them up and uses them for parts to fix other mowers. ALL the lawn mowers I have and use are ones I picked up for free and then fixed which includes a couple riding lawn mowers. As for the tank yep best way to test plus small enough if something goes wrong you can throw it far enough away to save the tractor

I hear what you are saying OLD. Once the deck goes bad, I am done with 'em. For $150, I can get a new one and live large and be the envy of the neighborhood.

Also if the mower looks too bad, the wife does not want people seeing her cut the grass. So a good looking mower keeps your wife in shape and I can do other things like drink a beer.

That is the most impressive tank I have ever seen! The question is, 'is that Crown Royal or gas?

Small plastic garden sprayer.

Remove the sprayer nozzel from the hose. Clamp the hose onto the fuel line. Add a quart or two of gasoline. Pump the aprayer a few times. Bunge the sprayer to the footboard and go.

I use a one liter pop bottle and some fuel tubing to make a temporary fuel tank for our TO-30. I wired it to the steering wheel so I could set the OH valves hot and running.

I have often just run a hose into a 5 gallon gas can, Just raise it
higher than then engine then siphon and hook it up. Make sure any
spilled gas has time to evaporate.
In my younger days I went many of mile with a 6 gallon outboard
gas can on the seat beside me when the fuel pump went out.
Driving down the the road and pumping the bubble on the line as I
went. Nice to have a passenger to work the bubble so I could pump
the brakes up when I needed to stop.
