    Diagram for 8n choke/governor rods?

Is there a good diagram for setting up the governor/choke rods? The Ford diagram is useless.

Reasonable price for a Ford 501 Sickle Mower?

I'm thinking of selling my Ford 501 sickle mower and would be interested in knowing what I should ask for it. It runs good, but it is not pretty, having spent most of its time outside and having received a Ford Blue brush job somewhere along the line.

    Folding $975 ROPS from Greenes?

Anyone gotten a good look at the folding Ford ROPs Greene's Tractors are listing on ebay? I've come pretty close to buying a ROPs serveral times, but not folding seems like it would be a real pain. There hasn't been a folding Rops for the Fords for a number of years, and when they were...

Agco engine oil filter for Ford 8n?

Anyone know if an Agco 835817V91 engine oil filter fits n-series Fords? I stopped at the MF dealer, the only nearby tractor to see if they had a filter for my 8n, and counterman sold me the Agco swearing it would fit either a n-series or an early MF. But after looking at it more carefully have...

Size spring pin for gold Indian ORC

I got one of those gold made-in-India ORCs and wonder if anyone might know the correct size of the springpin which goes in between the grease fittings and holds it on.

Shimming the sickle bar on a 501 Mower

I have a Ford 501 sickle mower that had the bar stripped and all the pieces, including many shims, dumped in a bucket. I am trying to sort out the parts and get it together, but can't find anything in the manual or anywhere else about how the shims are to be used. There seem to be an awful...

    Should I buy this 600?

Just ran into a 600 Workmaster for sale. Good tires, 4 speed, nice hydraulic system with a control in front of the seat that it belongs there rather than being the usual lash up, nice sturdy front bulldozer blade. Original paint, faded but presentable, and it doesn't look like it has spent...

    Identifying A Genuine Ford Starter

Is there any easy way to identify a genuine Ford starter? I have an aftermarket one I put on my 8n when I was young and foolish and has never looked quite right. I'd like to obtain a proper Ford one and rebuilt it against when the repo dies.

Backwards Diode with 10-SI 12v conversion?

I have a 12V 8n with a Delco 10-SI alternator 3 wire conversion and just noticed that the diode seems to be backwards - the silver band is pointing towards the dashboard rather than the #1 alternator terminal like the diagrams shos it should. It's been like this for at least 2 years, and never...

Need advice on how the wiring harness is routed?

Anyone know where I might find anything showing how the wiring harness is routed on a front mount 8n? Been many years since mine say a real factory harness and not sure how it goes. Oh, just bought a harness for it figuring on saving a bit of time over scratch building one, and was surprised...

I need a new starter drive for my 8n, and just noticed that JN Electrical on eBay has one they claim is made in USA. Anyone tried one?

Molded vs plain lower radiator hose

Can anyone explain to me what the difference between the molded 8N8286 lower radiator hose and the plain/smooth one? A lot of vendors seem to say the molded one fits all, but others say it's only for the 50-52 8ns. nnalert says its for use with the 8n501 but doesn't say what that a 8n501 is...

Hose sizes for live hydraulic setup?

Any suggestions on hose sizes for a DIY live hydraulic setup? I'd like to keep them as small as possible so they are not too conspicuous. I've looked it up in a few charts and nomograms and they don't seem to agree. Oh, its a basic 2 gpm@2000 rpm pump.

Not-too-ugly way to modify grille for front hyd pump?

Anyone got any pictures of not-to- ugly ways to accomodate a front mount hydraulic pump? Something a little nicer than cjust hacking a hole in it with a cutting torch or Sawzall?

Any tricks for loosening a stuck tire bead?

II'm trying to get a rear tire off a badly rusted hat rim. The bead is completely frozen on and resists all attacks with the irons. Making things worse, since one side of the rim is almost completely rusted away it is hard to get resistance to pry against. Are there any tricks I might use that...

    Weird rear tire tread

Just picket up a used back rim and it came with a tire on it, so I decided to throw it on and see if it will last until I solve my current tire problems. I've never seen a tread like this, though. Looks like a pretty normal 45 degree bars, abut the bars seem to be hollow with another piece...

Little screw press bead breakers any good?

Swore I'd never change a tire again but a trip to the tractor store has me reconsidering - they want $170 just to make one good tire/rim out of two bad ones. Nobody around here seems to specialize in tractor tires, so I guess the ones that will touch them at all feel free to gouge. Seeing as how...

Tire bead oozing out from under the rim

One of my back tires has developed a 3-4" hernia-like bulge where the tire bead is oozing out past the rim. Is there anything I can do about this, or is it time to sell the tractor so I can afford to buy a new tire? Or should I just drive it like it is until it comes apart? Seems I...

How to lock engine while tightening/untightening things

What is the method of choice for locking the engine so it cannot turn while something like a crank pulley nut is being loosened or tightened? I know some rope down the spark plug hole has been suggested here but I have never had any luck getting the rope to go where it is supposed to on...
