    Thanks guys that helps allot. I live in Western NY the land of beautiful sandy loam so maybe I can do the 3 bottom. It's not a matter of productivity for me since I don't have that much to plow but I'm looking for a plow and want to know what my upper limit should be.

    Ampmeter question

    Just got done putting my Ford 850 back together and all seems to be running fine except the ampmeter indicator is running a little below the zero and it looks like it's discharging. Have run it about three hours so far and all seems fine. Any suggestions as to if I should be concerned about...

    Ford 850 manuals?

    Ditto to what these experts have said. I am definitely not a mechanic but can't begin to tell you how much I've figured out on my own by buying the master parts catalog and the Ford shop manual. Great investments. Good luck.

    Can't give you much advise on the repair and I'm no mechanic either but I would say to buy the master parts book and shop repair manual. Best money I ever spent. I've learned loads from them. Good luck.

    There doesn't appear to be any sort of drain plug or fill level plug. Should I just fill it all the way up?

    My 1956 850 with standard steering has a fill plug at the base of the shaft on the top of the gearbox. Can anyone tell me what oil goes in it and what the capacity is??? I've owned the tractor for 15 years and never even noticed it before but wanted to make sure it was properly filled. Thanks

    860 oil leak

    Just split my 850 for the same problem only with mine the oil had also leaked into the clutch compartment and hosed the pressure plate so it was also a clutch replacement job. When I got in there the main seals were actually dry. The oil was leaking from the camshaft gear cover so check that...

    Thanks I found out that it's: Ed Schaefer 7804 Rawson Road Cuba, NY 14727 716-437-2796 He is quite a character too. It's worth the ride out to see him and his place. I'd highly reccomend him. Has loads of parts and equipment.

    Guys, Thanks that is fantastic stuff. Question about the transmission input shaft. If that seal was leaking back into the clutch compartment wouldn"t it be gear oil in the case? It definitely is motor oil. Thanks again.
