Ampmeter question

Just got done putting my Ford 850 back together and all seems to be running fine except the ampmeter indicator is running a little below the zero and it looks like it's discharging. Have run it about three hours so far and all seems fine.

Any suggestions as to if I should be concerned about this.

It is a 6 volt set up all original.

Thanks

old ammeters can be off a few amps either way.. charged batteryes don't need much charge.. IE.. a charged battery on a old ammeter may be showing 0 or -1.. etc.

check votls on the battery.. if 7+ at throttle you should be good.

with engine off and lamps on what do you show?

Well, if you weren't thinking like me when I put my 860 back together, you may have wired the ammeter backwards. My ammeter is still original and just has a wire passing through the induction coil on the back of the meter. I had run the wire the wrong way through the coil, so when it was charging the meter indicated discharge. I flipped it around and it worked fine.

Hopefully your problem is as simple as mine was.
