Quick fixes on tractors
My guess is it used to have the two piece nut and he replaced it with a castle nut. When doing that you need a couple extra of the big washers with a keyway notch. Been there done that but I found the extra washers.- M-MAN

JD40 VR removal
There's a mounting plate near the bottom. A capscrew on each side. You can see the two bolt holes in the pic. I pulled these pics from the net. Not sure if it bolts from the front or back but the pic shows the 4 screw holes where you would remove the front panel screws if necessary.- M-MAN

Woods 1260 rotary mower (10 foot) blades getting out of time and hitting each other
Flex plate drive with rubber/fiber disks instead of steel. I like the concept. The jacquard drives I used to work on used stacks of steel disks. 17 or 21 depending on head size.- M-MAN

Continuity across 9n solenoid
The neutral safety(starter button) completes the circuit ground to energize. Different than an automobile. -

What am l missing
Since you're positive engine is free and cables are bypassed I think you need to check for rat nests. Pull the muffler and check there. Then pull the clutch cover and check in there. If no joy it's something in the transmission (probably rust and tar) or the hydraulics is building too much...- M-MAN

Ford diesel piston ring gap alignment
Same here. On the other hand I've never torn one down and found them lined up. -
JD M first start in who knows how long
I miss the old days when the throttle and choke shaft were included in the basic kit. Now you have to buy the comprehensive $$$ kit to get them or order individually $$$. Last fall I rebuilt the carb on my IH and went through 3 needles and seats before I got one to seal. Is the avatar your M...- M-MAN

24 hp 48 inch husqvarna transaxle?
Forget about how much comes out. Fill it all the way up. Cycle it forward and reverse several times and refill it again. You can't really overfill it as it has a vent. I went through this last year with my son in laws mower. Got rid of the noise and pulls like it's supposed to again.- M-MAN

Ford 851D Temp gauge
When I replaced mine I had to get a different fitting to go into the block. -
Cub Steering Gear Castle Nut size needed
Castle nuts can be found at any industrial supply including McMaster. Cheaper to just replace it.- M-MAN

Juice ran out of my 18v Li DeWalt battery
Probably something like the slime that comes out of alkaline batteries. Shouldn't happen but it does. I would put it outside until you get rid of it. -
Fluctuating Water pressure
Fitting/pipe going to the pressure switch stopped up. My daughter's did that last fall. I opened the spigots to drain the water. Took off the pressure switch and replaced. Same thing. Repeated and then thought about a possible blockage. Took a small screwdriver and put in the hole and it was...- M-MAN
