Pics for identifying the maker of the harrow.

    Parts for disc harrow

Yes, cutting the 1.25" nut and replacing with a new nut would work. Guess I'd just rather use a couple wrenches to break the nut loose rather than have to cut and touch up threads. To each their own I suppose. I was able to locate a spool that will fit my square shaft. A friend had a pile of...

    Parts for disc harrow

Sure, that would work to tighten the nut but to loosen is a different story. Three of the five blades were missing (broken) so there were only two left on this particular gang. It took a large pipe wrench on the only spool that wasn't damaged to prevent the axle from turning and a wrench with...

    Just tried Shoup, no luck.

What are you using to prevent the axle from turning while you tighten/loosen the nut?

    Parts for disc harrow

I'm a former tooling engineer so I completely understand how to hand-craft a simple part such as a spool. Due to the relatively short length of spool that I need (4.5"), I'd like to have more spool-to-axle engagement than 1/4" or so on each end of the spool that I would have if I were to use...

I'll try to get some pics on here later this evening.

    Parts for disc harrow

I have a machine shop at my disposal but the problem is the square thru hole for the squared shaft. It would require a LOT of machining time to build inserts for a squared shaft which is why these parts were cast to begin with most likely.

    Parts for disc harrow

I'm in the process of rebuilding one gang of my disc harrow. Problem is, I have no idea who the manufacturer of the harrow is. I've been unable to find any identification numbers and there's no paint to give me any idea of brand. What I'm needing is a spool piece to replace one that's broken...

    4610 charging problems

Is the batt sensor internal to either alt? Also, what is necessary to change to the Delco? Are there wiring instructions you could point me to?

    4610 charging problems

4610: What simple checks can I make to determine whether the alternator or voltage regulator is bad? What I'm seeing on my voltage gage (I mounted an external gage in the dash) is battery voltage for most of the time and then it'll jump to 14v for a few minutes and then back to batt voltage...

    4610 alternator wiring

Ok, thanks. I'm hoping there's a break in the wiring between the alt and the regulator. If the alt is the problem, I'll be back on here asking how to convert it to a Delco. Thanks again.

    4610 alternator wiring

Do you know if it has an internal regulator?

    4610 alternator wiring

Looking at the back of the alternator, can anyone tell me what each of the wires are (position 3 has two wires) and where they terminate so I can trace them? I'm hoping one of these wires is either damaged or broken and it's causing or contributing to my voltage stabilization problem. Thanks.

    Erratic temp and fuel gauge

As said in my initial post, I even ran a new wire directly to the battery to rule out a bad ground. Resistance from the battery to all grounding points on the cluster measure near zero. I don't think a bad ground is the problem. I'm leaning more toward voltage regulation/stabilization being...

    Erratic temp and fuel gauge

Oh boy! LOL. I wonder where an external regulator might be?

    Erratic temp and fuel gauge

The reason why I'm hesitant to think it's alternator problem is that I didn't have this issue until after the instrument cluster was re-wired due to rats eating EVERY wire behind the cluster. I'm wondering if there is a sensory wire or something that is not 'telling' the alternator where to...

    Erratic temp and fuel gauge

A few months ago, I posted that my temp and fuel gauges were 'dancing' when operating the tractor at anything above an idle. I've checked my ground (even ran a seperate wire back to the battery to make sure I had a good ground) and the 12v+. My multimeter shows a voltage of between 14.5v-15v...

What to do with empty hour meter space?

If I chose to install an oil pressure gage in the space, how would you suggest that I connect it? Is it possible to install an electrical oil pressure gage? I'd rather not go the mechanical route.
