    Video discs, older vs. newer

    You didn't mention the OS you're using. If you download from the Microsoft "Store" you'll be fairly safe. MS does have an extension named "MPEG-2 Video Extension" but I normally used VLC (Video Lan Client) and it's listed on the MS Store and FREE.

    Flashlights

    I understand you're sentimental feelings but the LED flashlights are so much better/brighter. Did you every drop an incandescent flashlight and break the filament? It's really hard to break the LED.
