    Found the problem. The wire going form the - post on coil to distributor had touched the manifold and melted the insulation, it still had continuity, replaced it and she started right up. Thanks for your help Mike

    I have an 8n front mount converted to a round coil 12v. Was running fine then just quit. No spark. Battery voltage thru coil to end of coil wire, battery fully charged but no spark. Coil is couple of months old. Sounds like the coil is bad. Any other ideas? Mike

    Thanks everyone for your help. Turned out to be ignition after I burned off the plugs per JMOR instructions. I took off distributor to check. Reset points and polished them, she took right off. Thanks Bruce for sending me in that direction add this to one of those time you were talking about...

    Have blown out all passages. I can not hear anything when I shake the float but that would be the most likely problem. I have just removed the plugs and burned them off with a torch, took carb off and gas filled bowel about half way. Could points cause the plugs to foul. I have what looks...

    Just got back to work on this thing. Wire brushed the plugs, checked gap and it started right up. Has a really bad miss at all throttle settings. Is running right now to see what it does after warming up. Mike Well after warming up I adjusted idle down then it quit and will not restart...

    I have so far rewired my front mount 8n over to a round coil and rebuilt my starter. Now she only wants to run wjth the choke pulled out. I have good spark with the new coil, rebuilt the carb and have good fuel flow from bottom hole. I can get it started but will only run with choke...

    I have jumped around solenoid but still nothing. Voltage is coming thru solenoid shows 12v at stater lug when button is pushed. Have not checked voltage of battery when button is pushed. Mike

    I have an 8n with front mount coil, I have switched it over to the round coil. When I try to start it all I get is clicking.
