    Okay blade gurus....

Take a close look at a new blade, it has a flat surface on the edge about a 32nd of an inch or so. I maintain equipment for a landscape company and I sharpen using an angle grinder with a sand paper disc and then do a couple swipes lightly with a hand file to take the edge off.

    garden tractor pulling

the IH Cubs work well because they have a proper fiber disc clutch... the drive shaft itself is actually a weak point and needs to be beefed up for pulling. you can use a belt drive tranny like a Peerless 2300 but most gearbox garden tractors use a tension pulley against the drive belt acting...

    garden tractor pulling

stock or modified? at about 650 lbs a C141 is not a very heavy tractor to start with, and hydro's in general are not ideal for pulling. Anything can be done if you throw enough money at it... but the first thing you need to do is check the rules at any local pulling clubs.

    What is this model?

Its one of the smaller MTD built Whites, the step thru design started in/around the early 90s and by that time MTD was also building the Cub Cadets. If you go back into the late 70s/80s the MTD White had some big heavy tractors such as the Yardboss line... those will send the JDs home from the...

    Jim Dandy serial # ?

sry.... no code = '64 or earlier 8052 looks like a 1961 serial number

    Jim Dandy serial # ?

If the engine does not have a 'CODE' number then it is a pre 1965 engine which would make the tractor a '64 or '65.

    Jim Dandy serial # ?

Not the type number.... the 'Code' is the date

    Jim Dandy serial # ?

Should be a 'Code' number on the engine somewhere.. 1st two digits are the year of the engine

    MF 24

If the sprocket has a 1/2" pitch will be a standard #40 which was pretty common on alot of lawn/garden equipment.

Kohler k161 in Cub Cadet 70

not 100% sure I follow you but the full level in any K series engine, regardless of the type of oil pan, is approx 1/2" below the hole that the filler tube is in... on some engines there is no tube but just a screw in style plug and the oil level is at the bottom of that plug. Hold your dipstick...

Kohler k161 in Cub Cadet 70

Doesnt matter what size engine or what tractor its in.... if there is enough pressure to lift the dipstick then the crankcase vent is not working properly... if you seal the dipstick without addressing the vent issue then it will just blow out a seal someplace else.

    John Deere 317

I took a 317 in on trade a couple years ago.... just finally started working on it a few days ago. I put in a new solenoid yesterday and invented several new cuss words during that little project...Lol Nothing wrong with a KT engine if its been properly maintained, Ive had a few thru the shop...

    farmcrest garden tractor

Cockshutt ended production of the 30 in 1957 so your lawn tractor would have to be at least that old for the two tractors to be sold as a promotional set. Do you have any ID tags on the lawn tractor or its engine that might help date it?

    farmcrest garden tractor

Gambles Farmcrest tractors were built by other suppliers so the two tractors would not have been built by the same manufacturer.... the Farmcrest 30 is a Canadian built Cockshutt but I dont know who built the lawn tractor... do you have a pic of it??

    MTD Dayton tractor

Waist high???? ... maybe you should get a swather..Lol Most any mower will struggle with grass that high... you will prob have to cut it twice... once to get it down under a foot and then a second time to get a nice finish.
