    MF40 Side Shift Backhoe Actuator

All back together after having to modify the actuator seals. Swings good and stays in place. Now the big problem is the two bolts that hold the top to the slide frame have broken, one had been broken for some time and the other was broken 3/4 of the way through, so had to separate the backhoe...

    MF40 Side Shift Backhoe Actuator

Hi Only got a few minutes tonight to split the actuator, looks like I have found the problem, half of the paddle seal is missing and the fixed seal is broken as well as the backups for the seals are gone all together. Will post some photos later on. Burgs

    MF40 Side Shift Backhoe Actuator

Hi Ok finally got the rotary actuator off, fired up the old TEA20, I have a rough jib on it to lift things around, connected it to the actuator shaft, put weight on it and jiggled the motor back and forth, and it started to move then I could see why it was tight, there are two dowels fore and...

    MF40 Side Shift Backhoe Actuator

Hi Mecheng The side shift being hydraulic lock would be good if I can get to work again. The manual is actually 419 pages and by the look of the side shift it is manually locked, anyway got the most important part for the moment being the actuator. Burgs

    MF40 Side Shift Backhoe Actuator

Hi Hydraulics in the manual don't show how the side shift works? On my tractor there is a valve mounted on the inlet side of the 6 spool valve bank but I am not sure how this works other than, directing oil to the two locking cylinders when one of the 6 spools is activated, it either releases...

Hi Mecheng Yes arrived today, still don t know what model the backhoe and loader are, but 144 pages covering whole tractor. Only had a quick look at the manual, the manual has a complete remove, strip down, inspect, repair and refit section on the actuator. I will need to attach my chain...

    MF40 Side Shift Backhoe Actuator

Hi Thanks for the reply. I have a manual coming from the company that sold the seals to me, so hopefully more information forth coming. The roll pin could be why it is not lifting off after undoing the nuts, not sure where it could be as there isn't much room, I will have a dig around while...

    MF40 Side Shift Backhoe Actuator

Hi Is this a MF220 Davis Backhoe? The photos I have seen so far of the MF220 have the controls and seat mounted on the backhoe but the rest looks similar. The controls on my tractor are mounted on the tractor itself and the seat simply flips backwards to operate the backhoe. The backhoe I...

    MF40 Side Shift Backhoe Actuator

Hi I have a MF40 backhoe loader that I am about to reseal the swing actuator. It is a side shift loader fitted with a Dowty actuator, the actuator sits above the backhoe swivel brackets not between them. I have undone the bolts that hold the motor on the top bracket but it refuses to move other...

MF40 Steer Pump Seals and Remote Reservior

Thanks for that PT. If the hose is just a remote way of filling it I will set up a bit better, currently it has a plastic reservoir hanging off the end of the hose. Seals must be shot as oil leaks into the crankcase overnight. Steering is working great otherwise. Best Regards Mark

MF40 Steer Pump Seals and Remote Reservior

Hi My MF40 steering pump needs a new set of seals. The pump is the remote reservoir type. Do other pump seals fit, or are they specific to this pump, and has anyone got the seal kit numbers? Has anyone a photo of the original remote reservoir and where it is mounted? [/img] Best...

    MF40 Alternator, Front Crank Seal

Hi Tidied up the wiring, fitted a new fuse panel, removed/replaced all bare wires, fitted new warning lights, old ones had fallen apart. Started up and still have to rev engine over 1500 Rev/min before it starts to charge, once charging it will hold 14.42 volts at idle and with lights on as...

MF40 Where Does The Steer Pump Filter Go?

Hi Removed the steering pump tank and out popped a spring, filter was blown apart also. Spring looks as though it is out of bigger tank model, filter also has a bigger hole than the spigot cast into the pump. Ordered seal kit 888744M92. The new seal fitted the spigot, but I measured the...

MF40 Where Does The Steer Pump Filter Go?

Hi The steering pump on my MF40 has a kidney shape cover on the back of it and I am wondering if the filter fits inside of it somehow? See photos, not much room it has an after market remote header tank, not much use having a filter in it though, a strainer would be ok though? I haven't taken...

MF40 Backhoe Dowty Slew Actuator (Swing)

Hi Masseynut I will try Griffith Traders tomorrow, they have them listed for a tilt seat unit, which this is. You wouldn't know what model the hoe is by any chance? Regards Burgs

MF40 Backhoe Dowty Slew Actuator (Swing)

Hi My new to me MF40 Backhoe slew actuator seems to slew ok but will not hold position, it will move to the downslope side due to gravity. Do they have load lock valves in the actuator to hold them in position or is the valve spool closed centre? Or could it be the internal seals, either way...

    MF40 Instruction Sticker?

Hi PTF That sounds like a good answer to what's left of the sticker, and makes sense, we didn't have those stickers on our Mini Miners probably why we did a few torque convertors and other bits. Regards Burgs

    MF40 Instruction Sticker?

Hi My recently acquired MF40 has a warning sticker just below the steering wheel, right hand side on the dash. The sticker is illegible but what I can decipher it looks to be some sort of instruction about the reverse gear see photo? I guess it is about the operation of the trans for digging...
