    Thanks for the thoughts and proceedures. I will try to drive the tractor around like you did in high gear and tap brakes with the clutch depressed and see if it will break free. The tractor has been in dry storage for about a year. Cant think it would be rusted but you never know. thanks...

    My Ford 641 has been sitting for a while and the other day I fired it up to move and could not get the clutch to release to place in gear. I jacked up the back end and tried to use the brakes with the clutch depressed and still could not get the clutch to release. Anyone have an idea short...

    Spark plugs for Ford 172 engnie

    The hotter range plugs (NGK-3112) seem to be the right choice instead of the old autolite 216 for todays gas. It cleared up the missing and so far has shown no signs of fouling a plug. As always appreciate the advise from you all. Thx. Dave

    [Seems to have decent compression and does not burn oil. Not sure what an anti-foul adaptor is or where to get one.

    All the plugs were black. Didn't think of the weaker gas. Try and run non alcohol gas in it. Could be time for new wires. The cap and rotor and points looked good. Just seemed strange the black plugs. Probably need a little hotter plug.

    Number 3 cylinder spark plug is black and seems to have fouled. Cylinder has over 100 lbs pressure. Have autolite 216 in it now. Is there a better plug to use? A lot seem to say NGK. What NGK plug fits the 172 engine?

    Good idea. I will look for a bolt hole or plate to take off and see if I can view with a cable video cam.

    Looking to rebuild the power assist steering on my 971. Can't remember who was rebuilding the cylinder shafts and had replacement seals. Need to rebuild the pump also. Any thoughts on who or where to locate parts? Thx. Dave

    Ford 971 SOS problem

    Pulled the side plate and was happy to see the coupler had disconnected from the lever. Moved the coupler and lever back to the grove and bolted plate back on. The SOS works great. Thanks for all the suggestions from all, this forum is great!! Dave

    Makes more sense now. I have moved the side lever before with no results. Seemed like maybe something was not releasing. Probably had it in release mode and it released during this last episode. Thanks, I will pull the plate and check things out. Dave
