    Old Soldering Irons and Ingots

Pure lead melts at 621 degrees F, but it doesn't start to release fumes until 900 degrees F. Solder actually melts at a lower temperature (361 F for 63/37). So at normal soldering temperatures there are no lead fumes, but you certainly can get fumes from the flux.

    Plasma cutters

As a matter of fact, Hypertherm makes the PowerMAX 30 Air. It is generally considered the best of the plasma cutters with an internal compressor, but only get one if you really need the portability. You get more for your money with a plasma cutter that needs an external air compressor. This...

    Heres a few more

That "wooden scribe marker" is best known as a Mortise Gauge. Use it to mark the edges of a mortise before cutting (for a mortise and tenon joint). A similar but larger tool is the panel gauge. Click for Info on Marking Gauges (Part 2)

Open it up and check the power supply voltages with a DVM. Replacing a dead power supply is a pretty easy fix, if that is all.

new operator with old bush mower - questions?

I borrowed my grandpa's '52 8N and old brush mower after buying some land in the mid 90's. Cut quite a bit before puncturing a tire on a small stump. Local tire service came out and fixed it, but that mower didn't survive the land c;earing process (it had no stump jumper). I have a Howse...

    Another funny

This is no different than the protection dog club members who remember your dog's name, and the fact that he has great obedience, runs 100 mph to bite the decoy full and hard, and lets go on command. You are just that guy that brought the "thing" that they like...

    Sizing a shop heater

The standard table says that 150 feet of 3/4" polyethylene pipe can only handle about 93,000 BTU/hour of natural gas with a .5" water column drop in pressure. However, if your setup can handle a larger pressure drop then it might work. For example, if the regulator is set by the gas company...

    Electrical code - historical question

That's funny, I don't have a subscription and I can see it. But you are apparently much closer to the Star Tribune's target area. The gist is that most breakers are not allowed to have 2 wires connected, but some breakers built by Square D and Cutler-Hammer allow it. Common correction...

If the breaker is listed that way, and the installation instructions say it is OK to do so, then yes.

It is a lot simpler (and probably cheaper) to design the board that way, rather than trying to implement a PID controller in hardware.
