New tractor without DEF as a selling point?

The John Deere 5045E (45 hp) that I bought new in 2021 in non DEF although it does regenerate depending on how it's used. It's just under 200 hours now and has only regenerated once at 100 hours which is mandatory, I think. You just don't want to let it idle at low rpm's or start and stop it...

    Discouraged

If you feel it's that difficult to work on a John Deere and they are that unreliable and parts are that expensive, you would be far better off sticking with your Cases and Farmalls.

    4240 powershift lost all gears

On a 4020 power shift there is an engine disengage lever on the left side of the dash that needs to be engaged. Assume there is something similar on a 4240?

Narrow front tractor with monster ramps

I use two 2x8s with a steel plate with a lip to catch the trailer and another steel plate below bolted through to the upper one. The G John Deere or 620 are not all that heavy in the front and the wood ramps aren't that heavy to move around.

Chaining my JD 401 b Industrial to my trailer

Seems to me you'd be pulling against the parking pawl if it's in park. Doubt you'd break that chaining the tractor down, though. If you're going to leave it in neutral until you chain it down you maybe should have wheel stop blocks so it can't roll until it's chained down.

    4020 PTO Question

I can't find or figure where #23 snap ring goes. I have #22 spring washer and it looks like the snap ring goes in front of it but I don't see any snap ring or grove for one. That HyGard is pretty expensive and I don't want to drain it again. Asked at the dealer and they didn't seem to know...

    farm & dog:

It's possible that the dog is trying to get rid of the smell of what we think is good smelling soap you wash him with (assuming you wash him with fragrant soap).

    Middle buster

They are OK for a single row, but if you plant multiple rows they need to be spaced far enough apart to avoid the tractor tire running on the adjacent row.

    Finish Mowers

John Deere makes a GM2084R and a GM4084 finish mower. Both are a 7' cut and both cost about the same. Any idea which is preferable or important differences?

    Hauling diesel

I'm not in your state, but here you can haul up to around 120 gallons in pickup or trailer. However, hauling in a 55 gallon drum sure doesn't seem like a great idea. If it's in your truck and you get rain, it will get into the tank. An upright 50 gallon drum full of diesel. in the back of a...

    Snow Blower Finally Installed

I had a 2240 that started doing something similar. In the shop manual, there's a series of adjustments and procedure for doing them that cured the problem. Good cheap place to start is to get a shop manual and do the three point adjustments.
