    installing chevy alternator on a ym155d

    Alan thanks for the info but when you add a electric water pump ,electric radiator fan ,halogen head light bulbs ,front signals , the yanmar alt won't cut it ,it was a bear to install the 1 wire chevy , mount ,idler pulley ,back idler pulley. its 10 lbs of ka ka in a 5 pound bag but I did it.

    I have searched all over ebay Now at 3am I found the ebay seller its Shysky and is listed as a car circulating water pump the one I got has a reostat speed control it sell for $29.97

    I know what you mean welder .am thinking about thermostat control of pump.the natural convection still works with the pump shut off electric fan control in the piping looks like the way I will go. I got this pump on ebay a year ago it almost looks like a little fountain pump , came out of china...

    Norm if I unplug pump it goes right bach up to 190 in about 10 minutes and pluging the pump back in comes down to 110 then slowly down to 100 just finished piping it up today but have been testing for three days so far so good

    anybody know when a 155d was built ser num 56903 if any one is interested I just added a 12 volt water pump to my 155d brought temp down from 190 to 100 degrees F ,on a 90 degree day <E>:roll:</E>

    155d stalls after half hour or so...gets a little warm.

    I am not stalling but I am getting up to the 220 temp and do not like that , So after 30 or so years of running without a water pump I can imagine rust flaking down in the block, what I am going to do or try is flushing as all here suggested but in addition I am going to pull the radiator ...

    I took some good pics but can't seem to post them anyway I took my giant channel locks to my parts ym155 and the cap unscrewed with ease ,I tried it on my running 155 and it screwed in ok so I didn't destroy the threads after all .Now to pull the steering wheel so I can pull the dash board and...

    Winston just a added note it has a 3/8 hole in the center and 3 smaller holes about 1/4 inch from the edge most likely for a spanner to unscrew it.

    Winston no instead of a rounded off edge its more square and has fine threads ,if Iget a chance today I will try to remove the one on my parts tractor and post a pic .

    incorrect Aran the center hub cover on the steering wheel (which would be the horn on older cars) is threaded into the steering wheel to get at the nut ,I hope some one has one for sale I destroyed mine trying to pry it off

    just another issue , the front PTO shaft points to the center of the battery , so before I do anything I will have to weld up a battery mount 4 inches higher then the battery mount that's there.
