    4amp battery charger/maintainer

    this is a $40 charger from walmart. manual says to shut charger off when green light is solid on. so, why is it called a maintainer? i thought maintainer meant to leave charger plugged in all the time.

    older propane tank to portable air tank

    It needs a new valve. problem is, new valves have larger male threads for newer tanks. what kind of reducer/increaser do i need or where can i find a new vavle to fit the old tank.

    JD M no spring in oil filter cover

    has been on this farm for 71 years. diagram shows a spring. does this mean there has been very little filtering going on. Getting ready to order the spring and plate.

    clanky noise in drive train M

    In third gear(the most noisy position) there is a loud clanky noise. It is not a grinding noise, almost like something loose in the gears or rods in the drive line. The clutch is good and strong. What could I be looking for? Have not had the plate above the tranny off.

    small leak coming from the pivot shaft to raise and lower handle. my itt manual doesn't break down the parts there very good at all. what is likely the problem here?

    so what plug wires to use on new pertonic install on JD M pos ground six volt? I just read on another site to not use solid wires.

    distillate or diesel fuel per owners manual

    pertaining to 1949 era john deeres. manual says to drain oil out of transmission, for example, then fill with distillate. my ques, can i use diesel fuel to clean or will kerosene clean better?

    dead starter jd M

    Like said. it has a dead starter. i have 6 volts to the dist, so i assume the key switch works. can i pull start this tractor to see if it starts to trouble shoot the starter if it is bad or does this not prove anything?

    another quest starter on M

    so , i have the starter off. our area lost a good starter and electrical shop couple years ago. really sad about that. does john deere rebuild these or what? anyone know of a repair shop central indiana. the starter is just plain wore out. doesnt even hum or begin to start. new battery.
