    Block crack between the side covers

    Zem, I had the same problem with a 48 8N. My crack was all the way through. When I did my rebuild the machinist told me he put a small "V" in the crack and braised it. He then ground it off. Been great for six months now - no problems. Good luck. Jim

    Steering sector question

    Rebuilding steering sector on early 8N found right steering sector missing half a tooth. Checked this and other sites for replacement but cannot find one available. Anyone know anyplace I can find a righthand steering sector (part # 8N3526A). This is the 5 tooth sector. Thanks for any help...

    Rear Oil Seal

    Hi All, Just got the block back from the machine shop and started to reassemble. Plastigaged the crank it checked out good. Put the rear seal retainer in after permatexting it, soaked rear seal in oil for approx. 45 mins..When installing the seal in the retainer it seems to go in too easy...

    Hi all, Replacing manifold on my 8N. When removing the old manifold there was flat washers behing two nuts,a split lock washer behind one and no washer behind one. When I install new manifold should I use flat washers or no washers at all. I know to tourque to 27#. Thanks in advance for your...
