when trying to start after awhile if i tap on the side of the starter it will finely start how can a starter make it seem like my battery is going dead thanks- welding101

can someone tell me why my tractor acts like the battery is dead when i try to start it when it is cold outside it has a new alternator and voltage regulator and battery if i leave it in the heat it starts fine its like the battery is dead in the cold any ideas to help would be great thanks brian- welding101
