My son needs to change out the blower motor on the above vehicle. Rock Auto
lists three of them: $38, $41, and $82. Which one would you buy? He plans on
keeping the truck for the long term.

Thanks,
Glenn F.

The problem I have had with cheap replacement electric motors like that is noise. They work fine, but both the one I bought for my fireplace and the blower motor in my taurus are noiser than I would have cared for. Next time I'm spending more money and making sure the sone rating is good.

They never know much about their products. All three meet or exceed factory specs. Interestingly the cheapest one carries the best warranty.

I quoted wrong. Best one is $72.00. Usually I get the best one & probably will here too. Just hoping someone could advise. The sones point makes sense.

Well if it was ME buying the parts to fix my Goat i would not be talking to the auto parts store , i would be on the phone to Mikey of Jim at the Goat store and buying OEM . I needed to put a new track bar on my Goat O'Riles wants 158 bucks for a MOOG , Ok so i call the GOAT store and my cost on OEM is 132 . Needed a new rotor for the war dept.'s durango my cost OEM was 52 and change but they sold the last set on the shelf on thrursday and would not have restock till tuesday the ZONE wants my cost for a China import 97 and change , I say to the manager that there price sucks as i can BUY OEM for less and we are discussing this with a store full of people and she tells me NO WAY can you buy for less then we sell for , i tell her to call Mikey so she does and the look on her face was a true Kodac moment . OEm parts came out of Canada not China Needed a wiper motor for a ford one ton one day and went to a Napa store and they told me that they did not have one on stock but the one seven miles away did and i could drive down there in a pouring rain strom with out wipers and have it for a 138 bucks exchange and theres was a REBUILD . So just for shuutts and giggles i call the Blue Oval store and ask Bobby HOW much Bobby tells me my cost is 38 bucks and change for a NEW OEM and they were three miles away . So i drove down there and BY therew 38 dollar and change wiper motor and Bobby lets me pull the truck into the back of the service bay so oi can install my new wiper motor in the dry and not in the parking lot in a monsoon. Before you guys just run off to the local parts stores for the super great deals do some calling BEFORE you buy .

There is more to it than that. Which ones have the American flags . What brands Traditional USA car parts names or unusual off brands you never heard of ?

About 50% of the parts I buy now are OEM... Most of the time they may have a better price

What I don't understand about belts and hoses

Chrysler and Nissan are priced cheaper than aftermarket all aftermarket hoses and belts are garbage...

GM, Honda and Toyota will ream you a new'N it will blow you away with what they want for a hose  I still pay it because its the best I can do...

Ford is a toss up some priced good some over the top...

You never know about gaskets last week I brought intake gaskets for a 09 chebby 3.6 I ordered Felpro cost $50 for the ell of it called the dealer and got them I sold them for $28 that was retail after I marked them up I could not see a difference tween the aftermarket and OEM...

I prefer MOOG over any OEM ever made even it it cost more...

I am one of the fortunate ones as i buy at Jobber , also i am a ex Master Ford tech and Chrysler tech and also a ex Chrysler partsmanager , My parts that i buy from Chrysler are at 10% over cost and if there is what is called WHOLESALE COMP then for less the book cost . Engine pars i get at jobber and deal thru a jobber ware house . If i an Forced to use NAPA i will drive ten miles and deal there rather then the one that is eight blocks away as i can not type on here what i think of the people that work there or the owner. Auto Zone is a joke Advance another joke and the jury is still out at O Riley's , They get me fired up at times and they hate it when you tell them that they are way over priced . when i do want something i have to take thre hand and lead them along to get the part i want. I needed a rebuild kit for a I H truck engine and by the Books and Computer they nolonger offer it , Give me a break here it is a Holley 2 BBl carb and it is the SAME gskt and Float that is used on a MO PAR 360-400 engine and i get well the BOOK and the Computer says , Don't care what the book and Computer says just order it . Well guess what everything that comes in the kit is the same and EVEN the float is the same . Then i get from them how did you know it would work .Well gee with over fifty years of wrench twisten parts shuffling and everything else i have done in my life time i kind of know . You do not receive all the award and letter of appreciations From Chrysler Crop. for running one of the best parts dept in the nation by not knowing anything and i think that my time turning wrenches was a big part of that .
