1000 PTO

My neighbor needs 1000 rpm PTO. He has a Ford 4000. Not sure what he needs it for yet but i thought i'd through that out there for discussion

I guess my neighbor has a friend who needs a 1000 rpm pto to run a stump grinder...

Hell only get that with a SOS transmission with the 2-speed PTO
option.

Disregard the stump grinder...I guess it s a tub grinder fir grinding hay and grain

He does have the SOS tranny on his 4000... is there a kit available to convert his to the 2 speed Pto???

No kit... it either has the capability or
it doesn't. If it has the 540/1000
shifter on the side of the transmission,
he will also need the 1000 shaft.

I have an early 4000 SOS, even if it had the 1000 PTO it wouldn't pull a stump or tub grinder well. I have a 1000 PTO stump grinder on my JD 4020D, and it will make it
work hard at times with twice the PTO power of the 4000.

He has about 1/4 the ponies required to spin a tub grinder to grind anything but air.

No kit, but can be added with the appropriate parts. All cases can
accept the two speed PTO parts. Be advised that it would involve a
complete transmission tear down.

Even if has 1000 rpm gear on trans input shaft, have come up some way to convert 1 3/8-6 to 1 3/8-21 splines.

The 'X81' SOS transmission has the capability of switching from a 6 spline 540 rpm shaft to a 21 spline 1000 rpm by removing a bolt located in the end of the shaft and swapping adapters. The 1000 rpm adapter (p/n 313247) is rare.
