1010 hydro issues

Hello all excited to be here.
I have a early 1010 industrial with the gas engine with power steering(cylinders unhooked) and the 710 loader and a backhoe on the back. the tractor runs good and the loader/hoe both work as they should but the pump on the crank seems like it is working hard on any function and it seems under powered for the hoe, it doe leak fluid from the pump somewhere(Drips on the axle when not running) and I also have a couple of leaks at the loader cylinders and the hoe control valves.
Now for the questions, can anyone tell me what gpm and psi the crank pump should run, also if that pump is big enough to run these attachments properly? If not I am willing to replace it with a bigger pump(more gpm and psi) but how big should I go?
where is a good place to source these parts Valve rebuild seals for the hoe, loader cylinder seals, hydro pump rebuild kit, and brake parts.
Last question for now, What is a rockshaft? I am a auto tech by trade and a fabricator as a side gig. I know my way around the garage but am new to tractors. this tractor is just for homested use and so light duty but I would like it right when I need it.

SM 2033 is the manual JD publications says is for the 1010 wheel tractors, I gave you that link so you can study that. It should have hydraulic test procedures and specs in it. Since it covers all the 1010 wheel tractor models you will find info on the rockshaft and brakes as well.

Below is a link to the John Deere on line parts catalog. You can search your model and see/use the on line parts catalog for it. Pay attention to your serial number and any model notes since it covers all the 1010s. Your backhoe should have a model number on it. You will need to find the separate parts book for it as well. When I looked for a 710 loader (yet another parts book to find) I came up with a loader much newer than your tractor's vintage so it will be interesting to see some pictures of your machine from various angles. Include the hydraulic pump on yours.

You will likely find some parts are NLA (No Longer Available) from JD, which leaves aftermarket or salvage yards. A local hydraulic shop that rebuilds pumps and cylinders is often a good place to get those parts. If you study the parts catalog, once you identify your valves, you will see there are not many parts you can replace in them, usually just some O-rings or seals at external points and on relief valves.

Rockshaft is the mechanism on rear of tractor that 3 pt hitch lift links are attached to. RS normally has an internal one way pressure hyd cylinder

Hydraulic pumps are not sized by GPM unless expressed along with RPMs. Double the speed of a pump and it doubles the GPMs.

John Deere with a front loader and backhoe calls for a pump rated at 2.2 to 2.6 cubic inches per revolution. When buying pumps, the cubic
inches per rev is the standard sizing factor. This size pump is sometimes called a "23 GPM" pump because that is what it can pump at the
rated engine speed. My 1960 1010 with a crank-driven pump came new with a Webster-Electric 2.4 cubic inch pump and I replaced it with a 2.4
cubic inch Cessna. A 2.4 cubic inch pump flows 19 GPM at 2000 RPM and 29 GPM at 3100 RPM.

Some added info. Deere 1010 industrial with loader takes the same front hydraulic pump as a 1010 crawler loader, 350 and 450 crawler loader,
etc. Also the same basic pump as many IH, Case and Ford backhoe-loaders use. A Cessna 25500 series gear-pump. First year 1010s came with
either the Webster-Electric or the Cessna. Last Deere number I recall for a replacement was AT38801. You can buy a new Webster-Danfoss for
a little over $200 new, if you shop around. Prices vary a lot.

Pumps are rated in cc, cubic centimeters, or cubic inches per revolution, convert and multiply that by RPM at pump to get GPM.

Maximum system pressure allowed with that hydraulic pump on a Deere is 2000 PSI. Pump itself is rated for 3600 PSI. There will be other and
lower pressure relief valves for certain functions on the loader and backhoe. As for proper size, all the Deere 1010 industrial front
loaders, 1010 crawler loaders, 350 and 450 crawler loaders, Case 580CK backhoes, IH 3414 loader/hoe, etc. use pumps sized at around 2.33
cubic inches per rev and 25 GPM at 2750 RPM. If your pump shaft measures 7/8" OD it is likely the correct pump. Cessna model 25504.

Remember, RPM is at the pump, so have to compare the gearing to get actual RPM.

There is no gearing. The pump is crankshaft mounted and turns the same speed as the engine.

I do have another question,what is the lever by the shifter? sometimes it floats free and sometime it is bound up.

That s to engage the PTO if you have one.

So today the old girl coughed(backfired through the carb), and promptly died. Then refused to restart. in the process for trying to diagnose the no start the starter died. Tore the starter down to find that the solenoid had water in it and the armature was burnt. When it rains it pours . I now have my back porch half tore off and a dead tractor,and its supposed to rain for the next 4 days!!! yay mudd patio till next week!
