Is a 1010 gas tractor with a loader any good or should i keep looking? I have not looked at it yet but i will this week. They only want $2500 for it .What are the weak points of these tractors? It is a 1960 model.

Poor parts support and many that ARE available must come from Deere. Also a very poor brake system. 1960 is also the first year and many changes were made in the next few years of 1010s. Some early parts are near impossible to find.

That being said - I'd pay $2500 for a 1010 if in excellent shape. If mid-range -heck no. If you want a good Deere that size - buy a 1020. Totally different tractor with a modern 300 series engine, power brakes - and often differential lock, power steering, and live PTO.

For $2500 you could find a usable IH B275 or B-414, a Ferguson TO35, a MF35, a 1965 or newer Ford 2000, etc. and have much more tractor.
