My 1010 Was not runing good , would run for while then act up cleaned the feul tank and carb no good so did a complete tune up coil cap wires would run but still losing spark so I went to electronic system (that always worked on all my other tractors) but still no spark. I have power too the coil but nothing coming out to the plugs, it shows a weak spark but nothing steady. Any ideas, Got me stumped as everything is new. Thanks

My 1010 decided to stop running one afternoon, when I was busy trying to run my rotary mower! Well with a quick field check of things I determined I had no spark to the plugs.
When I pulled the distributor cap off, the little carbon post from the cap to the center of the rotor fell out in my hands.
Had a few moments to cuss a bit, then started thinking. I had a ball point pen in my jacket so I took it apart and used the spring! The one for the carbon post had rusted, broke and disintegrated. The fresh steel spring from my ball point pent worked like a charm! Finished my job, then after returning home, the next day i got a new Distributor cab and replaced!
Oh -the spring had to be cut and shortened a bit to make it stay in place!

Does it run until it warms up good and then stops? if so it could be the coil. They will do that sometimes when they are going bad.
