1010 rockshaft seals

I have an oil leak at the rockshaft (been sitting in the weather forever). The bushings seem fine. This is a goofy rockshaft (industrial) with two cylinders but just one control (quadrant).
I have the rockshaft housing off the tractor, removed the control arms, and loosened the rear housing bolts.

My question is about how I get the rockshaft out once I crack the case. Looking at the parts manual, it apparently slides out to one side after loosening or maybe removing the internal crank arms. (I don't have a service manual.) This might make a lot more sense after I get in there, but I thought I'd ask first.

I might be able to slip in the seals without messing with the internals, but I really need to clean everything up better if I want the seals to survive.

Thanks.

Fortunately the better late than never .JD installed replaceable bushings in the rockshaft housing during the tail end of 30 series production. If the bushings are worn it ain’t never gonna keep the oil inside .
It is one of those jobs to perform while following the steps in the service manual . Instead of getting it all back together and realize something was missed .

Mine is earlier. And I don't have a service manual anyway. That's why I'm asking how the rockshaft is supposed to come out -- I want to at least clean it up right.

All factory 1010 rockshafts had the housing machined and fitted with bushings .

I drive off one side of the lift arm attachment then pull it out. However, to get it back on you'll have to pull off the rear cover and line up the splines.

Thank you, that's what I needed.

And thanks again for the pump &etc. (I know it all works because it started leaking like crazy. ;)

Can't edit, so new post ...

... and now I "get" why the left seal is so much bigger than the right one.

I?ve put a bunch of those in over the years, never had to tear anything apart. I just tap a thin screwdriver into the old seal and work it till it
loosens up and comes out. The originals had cork seals, the new style is a regular rubber lip seal.Dual rockshafts have two on the left side. Tap
the new seals in and your done. I have a piece of thin wall pipe long enough to drive the inside seal over the shaft.

One of my lift arms is stuck on the shaft so bad that I haven't been able to get it off, so I'm forced to pull the whole shaft out. Maybe one day I'll get a puller and take it off...

I wanted to try replacing them on the tractor, but I doubt it'd work given the crud in there. Especially the left side, where the seal is pretty deep. I don't know if I have something to drive it ("thin-wall pipe" that big).

But then I couldnd't get the lift arms off, anyway. I pulled the assembly off the tractor mostly for the room to work, even after taking off the fenders. I used a heavy-duty puller on the left -- too big to fit on the right side -- but still had to blow some heat on it. For the right side, I used a smaller puller (harmonic balancer type), but it worked fine with a little heat. Not red hot, but maybe enough to damage the seal on the right.
