1020 hydraulic problem

I have no extra loader control valve, just the scv as the tractor would have been equipped with from factory without the loader. It's been this way its whole life. The loader parts diagram on JD parts shows hydraulic line lengths to run it using the factory scv's. I think mine is a model 47 JD loader and double acting cylinders. I really don't want to add another set of valves for the loader. It works fine the way it is except for the starvation of the hydraulic pump when using the clutch. If I ran the return oil from the scv's as its plumbed now to a new filter cover allowing return oil to the pump would eliminate my starvation issue, correct? Not sure if it's possible to get oil rerouted away scv being the return is so close to the rockshaft housing. I was always aware of the starvation issue as has been talked about many times, but if I could stop it would be great.

(quoted from post at 16:32:58 03/26/23) It is connected to the SCV now. Another
poster suggested I not connect it to the
SCV but instead run to the port on the
side of the paper filter cover.

Below is a photo of a kit(AR71945)JD offered that other person referred to that would route return oil from scv to ported filter cover in lieu of sending oil to reservoir.

Thanks for all the detail man. This is
such a huge help. The tractor only has
one remote mounted vertically behind the
seat.I was curious about the operation of
this single remote. I don't see any SCV
to control the flow of oil for the
remote, which seems very odd that it
would have a remote but no SCV for it.
Maybe they just installed it to return
oil from the loader?

If your tractors serial # is below 045,200 then your tractor shouldn't have a pressure control valve which is show in photo I posted & I mentioned the "green T".

The loader has a hydraulic or mechanical bucket ?

Keel74,

How do you lift the loader arms? Do you use the same lever that lifts the three point arms?

Seeing your last post. You say you have one remote coupler, I can't see one hose operating a double acting cylinder. If you have a double acting cylinder, you must have a control valve for the loader. Or you have a SCV controlling two remote fittings to work the bucket cylinder. It should have a supply and return hose to the loader valve in addition to any hoses going to cylinders. Where does each of them connect to your tractor?

No. It has a separate set of controls for
the loader. I tried to attach a picture
of it. If you can't see it let me know
and I'll send the link.

Ok, That valve requires a supply from the tractor and a return hose to the tractor. You keep talking about one remote. It needs two attachment points. We need to know where the supply and return hoses attach to the tractor. Can you post pictures of those points on your tractor?

I fully agree on the return hose location, just trying to get all the info. Today is the first time he has said it has a double acting bucket cylinder as well as single acting lift cylinders and it has its own loader control valve. He has talked about a single remote with no SCV until today.

Sorry about the confusion on the SCV. I'm
new to a lot of the acronyms and I thought
the SCV you guys were mentioning was the
dual spool control valve. I have One last
question. Right now the return line goes
to the single remote behind the seat. Do
I have to run a return line back into this
remote from a tee in the return oil line?
Or can I just leave the remote open with
no line to it?

Is the return plumbed like this one?

If so, the coupler in the transmission case does not need a line hooked to it. That return line is the one that has been suggested that you move to a ported filter cover.
