1030 cummins conversion

anyone know how to put a 5.9 cummins in a 1030 or 1070 thanks

Your best bet is going to be a 1070. Then MAYBE you can use the bell housing and flywheel out of a 2096. My big question is why?

I don't think any similarity exists between the 1030 tranny case and the later tractor's bell housing mentioned, anything is possible tho, I think that a friend of Doug Boll has done this but not sure how it was done, maybe he'll pop in and add to this discussion. mEl

Giving up almost 100 cubic inches isn't exactly a step in the right direction.


The writers of the rules clearly were clearing into a particular color or two???

Like was said above giving up 100 cubes is not really a good idea, and I dont know that its easy to get a 5.9 up to 466. I know many people have decubed the 8.3 for 466 classes with good success. Dont know what class your running but the only problem with case motors is they lack in head flow, all of which can be cured.

Forgot to mention, obviously you would want a 70 series 451 and not the old powercell motor if you stuck with case motor.

A p pumped 12valve cummins will get you about 300 hp with no internal engine mods,I'd go with a cummins.

Horsepower don't mean squat, torque is everything, and replacing a long stroke tractor engine with a light stroke truck engine is a bad idea. There is no replacement for displacement!

Don't get all excited about that Cummins so fast. About 3 years ago a friends son was serving in Astan. The kid emailed me asking if I would do a little internet looking at diesel pickups (his dad is computer dumb). Both Ford and GM plainly listed the graphs with all the info on HP and torque on the engines while Chrysler did not. It took a couple of days to get the info. The advertised HP and Torque for the Cummins was achieved about 300 RPMs OVER THE GOVERNED MAX RPM! Think about it and tell me how in the heck, with EPA rules, can you make almost the same HP and torque going from 5.9L (360CI) to a 6.7L (408CI) or 6.6L (402CI) and still be EPA compliant????? As long as Chrysler can show that they got those HP and torque numbers during testing it isn't consider false advertising. The fact that you can't get the stock engine to run the RPMs needed to produce those numbers makes it misleading.
