1030 straight pipe???

Huh, whatya say, come again, could you repeat that please. just kidding but the straight pipe on my DC is loud, I wear my ppe. but the 1030 probably has a cab. But all kidding aside protect your hearing, when it starts going it just keeps getting worse. gobble

A friend of mine has a 930 diesel with a straight pipe and it is loud when he's using it. A chrome pipe may look nice but if you're going to use it, you would want a muffler in my opinion

Natural aspirated diesels sound like someone farting in a culvert with a straight pipe but any thing with a turbo sounds good. Opinions may vary.

If I remember correctly, and might stand to be corrected, but it needs a muffler to have back pressure on the valves

So Ive worked on 5 different 1030s. Each one with a straight pipe had cracked heads on all 3 heads. Was told 20-30 years ago that the straight pipe allows cold air into the head too fast after shut down. Others on here will tell you to properly cool down before shutdown. For me, straight pipes on the 30 series is a NO-NO for sure. Just my thoughts

I bought a new muffler and it has no baffle in the center and is very loud. And that's a muffler that looks original. A straight pipe would be very loud.

I love using both my 930 and 1030, was out spreading manure today with the 930. But I would never run either of these tractors with a straight pipe. Even with a good muffler I wear ear plugs. You simply sit to close to that bid barking engine. I have lost enough hearing as it is, I dont wish to loose what I have left. Got to tell ya though, I sure like that smooth power and rumble of the big 6 cylinder engine.

Tooo many noisy things in my younger days. Tractors guns jets etc. I have a 1530 john deere and have to use ear plugs with a stock jd muffler. I have an 830 ck case that I made a muffler out of a glass pack and don't have to wear ear plugs.

Its loud and I dont particularly like the way it sounds BUT it sure looks cool. I would put the muffler back on but somehow I am outvoted by a 16yr old.
